Girls Night Away (maybe 2) From Newcastle Area too?
« on: May 12, 2010, 10:47:07 AM »
Ok so 14 of our guys are heading to Blackpool the last week in June to watch the World Cup and hope England is still in then...

So a few of the girls aka wife's and girlfriends about 3 or 4 us anyway wanted to go away as well...

We want a inexpensive trip maybe 1 night then again maybe 2...Drive or Train?

I have been asked what I want to do and honestly I say I have no clue! We thought London but one night there I don't think will cut it for me...

As you know this will be a night away with good food and a "couple" drinks so I doubt there will be much sight seeing...

I figure in the 3 hours range but where to go? So I thought well these gals and guys live all over the UK someone will have some suggestions I can google and figure out...

I know for sure two of us can do Fri/Sat but the others may have to come back Saturday ;-)

Ok you get the point haha

You're up north, right?  What about Edinburgh?

Yeah I am near Newcastle - well 30 min from it closer to Durham...

I would love to go to Scotland but DH has in his head he WANTS to be the first to take me there but maybe I can just "make it happen"...

If you are really just looking for a night out, then what about Manchester?   It would be probably 2.5 hours from you by train.

Manchester or Birmingham would be good options if you have people coming from various parts of the country. It would definitely be cheaper to get there by train (with easy links from pretty much everywhere) than going to Scotland.

I'd suggest either Harrogate or York - both nearby-ish, and good size for only a one or two night stay.  Harrogate has a lovely historic Turkish Baths & Spa (and great atmospheric old Victorian spa town is Harrogate):

(Be sure to check the times when planning a visit to the baths, as there are specific time slots for women-only, men-only, or coed.  For a women-only session, you can go European, au naturel, if you want - but you don't have to.)

York has this place, which a friend of mine recommended:

Nearer still to you, I wonder if this place is any good?
