There's a liquid iron supplement that a lot of midwives recommend when their patients get low iron and the can't stomach the pills. I think it starts with an F but I can't recall the name... someone here will I hope!

It's called Floradix - we get a lot of customers asking for it, but we don't stock it in our store. I think you can get it from Holland and Barratt though. Another liquid iron supplement is Spatone. It comes in boxes of 28 liquid sachets, which you add to orange juice and drink daily (one per day normally, or up to two per day in pregnancy),

There's also SpaTone Iron Sachets as KSand24 recommended.   ;)

My sister, who is an RN, swears by Floradix - and as I am vegetarian, she really thinks I should take this as I seem to get anaemic from time to time.

But I just take a generic multivitamin with B12 and D (also with other vitamins, but those are the important ones to me) and a very non vegetarian fish oil tablet, both daily.

I have always done this to ensure I get minimum daily requirements of everything as it can be harder, being vegetarian. Except I was more easily finding flax seed oil instead of fish oil in Canada and I am simply too lazy here.

Thanks for the recommendation, everyone. I am also vegetarian, however, I was recently tested for anemia, diabetes and thyroid problems. I am just often very tired so I thought there may be an underlying issue but my blood test came back "normal". I think I will see how Floradix works though!

Just wanted to say, and I can hardly believe this myself, but the MSM and Vitamin C tablets really seem to be helping to fade the dark spots on my face. They are less noticeable now, I think. DH even thought I had my makeup on this morning when I hadn't put it on yet!  :o I've been taking 3 x 1000 mg of MSM (its actually intended to lubricate connective tissue, especially joints) and 2 x 1000 mg of Vitamin C with Rosehips, as this is supposed to help your body absorb it, I think. Both of those dosages are the recommended dosages on the bottles and should be safe. Anyway, they really do seem to be gradually lightening the dark patches on my face, and I've only been taking them for 2 weeks or so. (I also have been using Metrogel for about the same amount of time, but that doesn't lighten dark spots as far as I know, it just decreases redness, but I am sure that has helped even my tone a bit, too, to be fair.)
