Countdown to Bank Holiday Weekend!
« on: May 26, 2010, 06:59:34 PM »
This weekend - Memorial Day Weekend in the US (DH thinks of it as the US's own version of Día de los Muertos after seeing the cemeteries all decked out for it one year when we were there for Memorial Day), and Spring Bank Holiday in the UK.

Only one more day of work for me!  Woohoo!  ;D

We're going walking up in the Yorkshire Dales with some good friends (you know who you are) & some relaxing at pubs with pints too...so far, the forecast is mixed:  light rain (Saturday), white cloud (Sunday), and ?? (Monday).  Temps looking reasonable for walking though - low 60s, at least we won't get overheated.  :P

What's everyone else doing?!  :)

I have the week off next week, so I'm working until Saturday, then I have a Eurovision party Saturday night, a meal out with my family on Sunday, a meal out with my friends on Monday (it's my birthday, hence the meals) and then I'm going down to North Devon with my family for the rest of the week :).

We're off to the Hay Festival on Saturday!!! A whole week in Hay! YIPPEEEEE!!!! On Sunday we're making a side-trip to Ludlow for my cousin's wedding, but we'll be staying near Hay in a big old farmhouse that we rent with a group of friends every year. Wine, books, board games, etc. It's a glorious week. Oh, and a fellow UKYer will be joining us for the last half of the week after all the menfolk go back home.

That sounds so fun, Chary! :)

I don't have much planned. It's my first weekend of summer break! Woo! So, I will be spring/summer cleaning. There's a Hoarders marathon on A&E (do y'all have that over there yet? Imagine How Clean is Your House on steriods!) which always inspires me to clean!

Oh, and oddly, this is my favorite bank holiday weekend- it's the one time they coincide in the UK and US! :P

I think I'm jealous of ksand24 and chary - having the whole week for something very fun!  :)

I wish a maid would come & have a cleaning marathon at my house this weekend while I'm away walking & drinking.  :P

If I have any motivation at all, I'll be cleaning out my closets and gardening.  If I have no motivation, it'll be a lot of reading and sleeping and a long walk on the hill fort down the road.

We're going to Thailand! :D
I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

Is Thailand safe again? I know there were curfews and I imagine travel restrictions there?

Yeah there are still curfews in the north, like in Bangkok and Chang Mai but we're going to Krabi province in the south and there aren't any foreign office restrictions or advisories there. It has miraculously been totally unaffected by the political turmoil, I only wish I could say the same thing about our BA flight down to Heathrow  >:(

The irony!! Well, bon voyage! I've always wanted to go to Thailand. :)

I am also going to the Yorkshire Dales and will be relaxing in some pubs ... or at least the one by our campsite.  ;D
