There's no street view of my real home in Wales either.  :(

Here's where we live. And that's my DH in the MG.

Wow, gorgeous neighbourhood.  I love the style of the buildings.

Lol - this is the house where I grew up (the one on the right):

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=554+W+Nickerson+Blvd,+Nickerson,+KS+67561&sll=38.152057,-98.084114&sspn=0.012014,0.01929&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=554+W+Nickerson+Blvd,+Nickerson,+Reno,+Kansas+67561&ll=38.152074,-98.084114&spn=0.012014,0.01929&z=16&iwloc=A&layer=c&cbll=38.152056,-98.084111&panoid=aoG7K6a8Begq2vTlEX9aUA&cbp=12,348.18,,0,5.01

I look at that now & think - Wow!  Look at all that space!

(Address number is wrong unless they've renumbered the street, but the house is definitely the one.)

Yeah, I think that too when I look at where my family used to live in the US: here. But when I had my own place, it wasn't anywhere near that size. Smaller than where I am now, at any rate. And my dad and stepmother have downscaled since then, anyway.

I love streetview. Lived in too many places to list, really--but it has become my saviour driving-wise. I just print out the directions WITH the pictures of all of the turns and merges and I finally get places without getting horribly lost!
Love everyone's pics of where they live!

Yeah, I think that too when I look at where my family used to live in the US...

The other thing that I think when I look at my childhood home is - how little things have changed!  I mean, that photo was taken some time after we sold my mother's house (back in 2002 or so)...and everything still looks sooooo much the same as when I grew up (I last lived there in 1982-83!).  It's like the land that time forgot!  :P

The colour of paint on the house is different, and the trees are bigger.  That's it!

Houses so cute you cold eat them.  I love it.

I'd post where we live, but who really needs to see another south London terraced neighbourhood.  Drop the Google guy somewhere random in Streatham, Tooting, Norbury, Balham, and you get the idea.  Being quaint isn't a part of the charm.

Aw. I spent 2 months with my bf in Tooting last summer. I love it. :) I've "walked" around town on Google street view when I miss it! It's really such a coooool feature.

Chary- your place looks so nice. Funny about your DH being in the car!

Grinch- what a lovely place to get married. :)

Near where we used to live.

I used to get so lost all the time when I first moved here.  It was like Hell designed by a regency architect.  Then I got used to it, and I started to appreciate it.

Well, if you don't mind paying for the heat escaping out the ginormous windows Cubitt seemed to love (even in our basement room, we had windows that were about 3 feet by 8 feet and few people would be able to afford to double glaze those windows) and once you got your bearings in acres of buildings that look EXACTLY the same, it's not bad.

Not that everything was horrible.  They had nice high ceilings, which is something I always like. There were some neat effects that were caused by perspective (like the inside of the porches looking a bit like a reclusive inclusion), and it's always cool to see them featured in a film or ad (new Rimmel London ad uses the Cubitt buildings in Pimlico/Belgravia).  However, I am sort of glad to be away from them.  They were blistering hot in the summer, freezing in the winter, a bit boring to look at when it's the only thing around to look at.

I am sure that there were more trees lining the streets when Cubitt designed them to help absorb some of the sun/break some of the wind.  Otherwise, he was just a cruel man with no sense for the comfort of the occupiers of his houses.

ETA: Thomas Cubitt, the man who unwittingly built about 987 hotels near Victoria Station.

I like them, too! But I don't think I'll be that lucky to live in that area. I'll be lucky if I can get by without a roommate when I move over. I'm too old (and set in my ways!) to have to live with someone I'm not dating!

Believe it or not, our bungalow has windows that size. And, no, we haven't double-glazed them. Last winter was a trial, especially as our heat didn't work until February.

Still, say what you will about energy-efficiency, those Regency buildings are absolutely gorgeous.

Our area is full of lovely houses.  Unfortunately, we don't live in one of them :(  But I love our flat so it's OK :).

Historyenne- I think the link is wrong. It comes up as the church from the OP. Otherwise, that is a rockin' flat! ;D
