Re-entry problems?
« on: August 18, 2004, 09:17:59 AM »
Hi all,

My wife and I are scheduled to head back to New York tomorrow morning (from London) so that we can attend our interview at the UK Consulate on Friday morning!  She is a US Citizen, and I am a UK Citizen.  Has anyone ever had any problems getting past US Immigration at the airport??  We're only going for 4 days...  I'm just worried that they'll see that we're married and decide not to let me in!

Thanks!

Shash

I've never had any problems and in fact I think you can go through the citizen/resident line with your wife.  At least that's what I was told because the first time my husband and I went back to the US I stood in the visitor line with him and was told he could simply go through the citizen line with me.  Best of luck!

It depends. Last time I was told I was not allowed to go through with my US hubby. He went straight through and I waited an hour to get through!

Thanks all!

The reason I was a little worried was that since my wife doesnt have the UK residency yet (that's what we're going to get), they might get funny with me...

Thanks!

S.

Just bring evidence of your ties to the UK. Letter from employer, mortgage statement etc. Don't offer them though, just have them in case you get grilled.
