My Scottish fiance has been the most amazing tour guide so far.
Then again, he knows what I like.
I've done Edinburgh and Glasgow, and all the great places to shop in that general vicinity, but some of my favorite places are off the beaten path. I love Callandar...just a quiet little shop town with great scones. And Dunblane, there is something charming about that area...and there's a gorgeous park there. He's also taken me to some great castles/sights like Wallace's Monument, Stirling Castle, Edinburgh Castle, etc.
But my favorite place he ever took me was Rosslyn Chapel. (I may have spelled that wrong...lol.) It was in the movie "Da Vinci Code," and is connected to the Templar Knights. Just something really sacred about that place...it's moving to think just how old it is, and the manmade stonework is incredible.
Best dinner/atmosphere I ever had in Scotland (at least up until now
) is in Bridge of Allan. A place called Vecchia Bologna. Pretty building, nice view, off the beaten path, and you can dress up a little to go there.
That's where we're going for dinner after our little registry office wedding.
Okay, not sure there was much helpful in this post, just mostly me rambling and reminiscing about great times in Scotland. I haven't been anywhere in the country that I haven't loved yet!
Miss it so much!
