Well, it looks like anything organic needs to have a chemically free decaffeination process.  So anything certified organic would be done either with the Swiss Water Process or CO2 process.  So Clipper Organic decaf instant (or any other certified organic decaf) would be made without solvents.

I didn't know that! Good information! Thanks!

ETA: Look what I found when I was looking for stuff: http://www.cartenoire.co.uk/cartenoire/page?PagecRef=1  Totally not anything to do with coffee (really), but some people might like to have a guy read them the classics.   ;D

LOL! Awesome!

Costco now carries Starbucks Via and its £7 for 24 sachets. Worth it imo!

It's sort of like in some areas, if someone offers you tea in your house, you're going to get PG Tips (shudder).  So for all the choice, to a lot of people, Nescafe is coffee.

What's wrong with PG? I agree about the Nescafe though, too bitter, my dad always use dto use it.

We had some on the flight when we went on holiday, it's what they serve on Thomas Cook flights.
Yes, it was good instant coffee, but £7 for 24 servings is ridiculously expensive....I'll stick with Kenco

29p a cup, seems all right to me? Depends, if it stops you buy 3 normal Starbucks coffees, you've probably made a saving.

As for VIA, the last time I checked, they didn't even do a decaf. Or, at least, it wasn't available at the Starbucks near (near being a relative term) us. I would be interested in trying it if they decided to cater to decaf drinkers, though. While I almost always do proper coffee, sometimes in a pinch it would be nice to have instant on hand for those times I'm in a hurry or just can't be bothered.

Starbucks is doing decaf Italian Roast VIA in the UK now.  It's what I'm drinking at work the moment, since the GP told me I MUST cut down on my caffeine intake.  As far as decaf goes, it's pretty good.

Oh, thanks! I wonder if my Starbucks just didn't stock it or if it's a new thing? I'll check next time I'm there!  :)

I use one of these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moka_%28coffee_pot%29, with Douwe Egberts coffee.  It results in a nice, strong coffee.

Not sure I get the PG tips comment either?  It seems as if everyone I know who likes tea here likes them.  I don't mind them, but then, I'm not a big tea drinker.  (I do choose tea here often when I'm offered a choice, mostly because I never know how well the person makes their coffee.  It's often Nescafe instant, and I'd rather avoid that. :D )

It's a personal taste thing.  Obviously, a lot of people love it, or it wouldn't be the most popular tea in most parts of the UK.  I can't stand it.  My husband bought a huge box of it at Wegman's when we were still in the States, and I couldn't drink more than a cup or two.  I finally threw it out when I moved over here.  My inlaws, of course, drank PG Tips.  I like tea, but I guess I have an odd palate for it.  Oddly, my husband, now used to drinking not-PG tips, can't stand it now either.

I don't care for PG Tips either, it's nasty tasting to me. Perhaps that it is so cheap to buy is reason for it's popularity... For me I much prefer Twinings if I'm going to have a cup of tea.

Yeah, we drink Twinings, but the past year or so, we've been drinking more Typhoo.  It's nothing fancy (go to the Twining's tea rooms in London and you will see fancy tea), but it tastes better than PG Tips IMO.  A lot of people who have tea at our house seem to like it as well.

ETA: This probably belongs in a separate thread, but I used to be addicted to Darjeeling, but one day I couldn't drink it any more.  I have major tannin issues, so a lot of teas just don't do well with my stomach, and Darjeeling is supposed to be a low tannin tea.

I don't drink black tea at the moment because I am avoiding caffeine, but I would hate to not be able to drink English Breakfast or Typhoo all of a sudden.  Maybe I am just weird with my tastes.

Coffee: meh.

Tea: yum! I drink most tea but I do prefer PGTips for my daily breakfast cup. If I'm making iced tea, it has to be something lighter.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
