Booking my Practical Test

It is almost that time..... the time for me to take my practical driving test!

I went to the DSA website and tried to book but the earliest available is mid September. That wouldn't be a problem but I am going to America for a few weeks before that and would like to take the test before I go. My instructor told me they usually upload cancellations on Saturday mornings but I haven't seen any earlier dates added today. Does anyone else have any suggestions as to how I can try to get an earlier test date? Isn't there a way to pay 10 pounds and then get notifications of cancellations? I thought I had read that somewhere. Or is it best to call? Best times to look at the dates available? Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks!

There is, you get this bit of software here and it notifies you of cancellations.

You book a test, put your info into the program, and it checks the website for you all day everyday.
Then when an opening comes up (usually 6+ per day here), it texts and/or emails you.
