I cheated and bought pumpkin muffins when I was in the Kensington Whole Foods buying canned pumpkin puree (huge display in the bakery section, FYI).  I must have looked like I was having some mad pumpkin craving -- the only things in my basket were cans of pumpkin and the muffins.   :D  I had the most amazing thing when I went out for lunch the other day -- it was a puff pastry, sort of like a 1/2 size pie, with pumpkin and little pieces of bacon.  I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, but it was fantastic.

I only just got the recipe from her last night - she used this one but she said she added a bit of greek yoghurt in to make it creamier, too.

Sweet, thanks. :)

Have obtained my Libbys from Waitrose!  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

It was only £1 and some change per tin.
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Is the pumpkin bread breadmaker friendly? If so, recipe please!  :)

I made a nice pumpkin and raisin bread yesterday. It's a bit dense but not overly so. I'm intrigued by the recipes CB just posted!

MTA - I like how the recipe for the curry says to ignore how 'ropey' the sauce looks!

MTA 2 - OK, I can't leave these recipes alone... the dhal looks good but I'd personally use yellow lentils and stick to more savory spices rather than the 'sweet' ones and make it more curry-like.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Well I think peanut butter in water with soy sauce would just look disgusting! But I really like the idea of sweet pumpkin and earthy peanuts, could be a winner :)

A friend of mine is coming over tomorrow for lunch so I'm going to make the pumpkin baked zitti again and I'm about to take pumpkin cupcakes out of the oven, for desert.  I hope they turn out well!  I made cinnamon cream cheese frosting to go on top and I already know that's delicious.  I have fresh, unpasteurized apple cider from my family's farm to go with it.  I'll report back on how the cupcakes turned out and post a recipe if they're good!  (Best of all, they're vegan, although I didn't have tofu cream cheese so the icing isn't.  Vegan baking can be surprisingly really delicious).

The Wall Street Journal had a nice article today about 13 ways to cook pumpkin.  I haven't seen as many varieties of them here as at home but I'm particularly intrigued by the pumpkin quesadillas and the pumpkin curry!

Haha, I'm a night owl by nature and often get the urge to bake late.  :)

Pumpkin pie is in the oven now, as we speak! It was slightly delayed as the Ocado delivery came an hour late with my Libby's canned pumpkin. And then, I realized, I got condensed milk instead of evaporated milk. Ugh. So I had to have the hubby pick some up from Tesco on the way home from work. This is a long time comin!
