Women's deodorant
« on: July 19, 2010, 02:23:31 AM »
Is Degree [Ultra Clear, Pure Satin, for women] deodorant sold in the UK? For some reason every other deodorant for me causes a skin reaction except this one.

Thanks.

Not that I have seen.  I haven't seen Degree as a brand over here.  About 80% of the anti-perspirant/deodorant  sold in the UK is the aerosol can form.  There are a few roll on's and sticks.  Dove has a few that are sensitive skin versions, which I have used and are really mild.

Degree is not available in the UK.

I use Secret Platinum (not in the UK either) and it is the one thing (besides huge bottles of Ibuprofen) that I stock up on when I visit the US, so you might need to do the same before you move over.

Nivia makes a nice one too and the Vaseline one I find quite sensitive as well. Both are spray on.

Actually, it is - it's just not called Degree here.

Sure deodorant in the UK is the same as Degree deodorant in the US - they are made by the same company (Unilever), the product logo is the same (the tick) and the product tag line is the same ('It won't let you down'). However, the individual Sure products may not be exactly the same as the Degree ones (you can have a look on the Sure website to compare: http://www.suredeodorant.co.uk/women/product_women.html)

It's really funny you posted this.  After I posted, I happened to be headed off to Asda and had a quick look at the deodorants there.  I noticed that Sure looked just like Degree, but it's been awhile since I bought Degree, that I thought my mind might be playing tricks on me.

To the OP, hope the Sure products work out for you.

Degree  is my favourite deodorant. I just buy several when i visit the states. Its lasts quite a looooong time.
I just haven't liked any of the brands here that i've tried including the sure "look a like"

I used to get terrible reactions to most deodorants, but I stumbled upon Sanex dermo sensitive and have never looked back. It works against the stink and doesn't cause an awful rash down both sides of my body, so I'm a customer for life. :)

I really like the dove stick deodorant as I'm not a huge roll on fan, I also like the stick where you twist up the cream but, it leaves horrible white marks and takes ages to dry, but it smells amazing.

I have the Dove stick (I dont like sprays/roll-ons) and it is the invisible one...I have never had a white mark - maybe the kind I have is different?

That's really weird because we do have Sure in the US and it's totally different to the Sure in the UK...which is probably where some of the confusion comes from.  In the US, it's "Raise your hand if you're Sure".

You can order Degree online in the UK though if you are really desperate for it.  (I just checked google UK shopping to see if you could get it and it was available)

I agree that I totally love Dove.  And I have the same problem with the "cream" kind (it's not the regular stick kind...it's the kind that you twist up and it clicks...it's liquidy but not gel like normal roll-ons) leaving white marks.

That's the exact one I mean :) It's different from the regular stick which is like a solid stick of deo. It is a plastic stick full of cream which you twist and click.

It's almost like lotion.

Yeah, it's confusing - the Sure in the US has absolutely nothing to do with Degree or UK Sure :P!

From the Wiki page on 'Sure' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sure_%28brand%29):

In the UK and other European countries, Sure is the name of a brand of antiperspirant deodorant  for men and women produced by Unilever, marketed with the tagline "It Won't Let You Down".

'Sure' (UK) is known by various other names globally - 'Rexona' (Europe, Mexico, South America, Asia, Pacific) and 'Degree' (United States & Canada). All three versions carry the tick logo.

In the United States, Sure is a different brand owned by Innovative Brands, which acquired the brand from Procter & Gamble in September 2006.

I was a degree devotee before I moved (never knew it was here masquerading as sure!) and switched to Mitchum (called Lady Mitchum in the US I think) and have had good results with this (except the waterlilly scent irritated my skin).  I know they have an unscented one.

you might want to look at pound shops.  i was happy to see a US only brand of spray deo,  ArridXX , there, along with several other US items like almay face creams.
