So it's been 7 days (5 working days) since my package arrived at the NY Consulate (according to USPS it arrived 19 Aug at 10:45am) and I still haven't received a "your visa is being processed notification." I'm starting to worry, because that packet had all our important originals (both our passports, his work contract, our lease, our marriage certificate!) and I really need to know that it at least made it to someone's inbox even if they won't get around to it for a while. Has anyone else waited longer than 5 working days for their email? Is there any other way for me to confirm that my very important things are actually with the consulate?

Wow, I did not know that. I don't know if that makes me feel better or worse. Is there any reason some people don't get an email (or other notification) or is it random? I guess I just assumed I would because other people from the community who applied to NY around the same time got one.

Does that mean I won't get notification of approval/denial as well?

Transpondia - Really useful information! Thanks for taking the time!

I work in a field where people often have to wait to hear from me... and usually I'm pretty sensitive situations. I have always tried to remain sympathetic to that. But I will tell you... that has multiplied by about a billion since I've been going through this. Now I think I am freaking people out by keeping them on the phone too long & just having a nice chat - haha.

The problem is similar: volume and the inability to update everyone. It's understandable that the counsulates have made these changes, but just tough to swallow on the other end.

Hopefully not for much longer... :(

Since the new visa system, with no expediters, came into place it seems like most people have gotten emails, but it used to be pretty random.

So I would say not getting an email doesn't mean they aren't working on it.  I think everyone has gotten an approved email though.

Wouldn't you know it, I got the email 1 hour ago. Allegedly they're trying to process 90% within 10-15 working days. I'm not gonna bank on it, but it definitely is a weight off to know it at least landed on someone's desk.

Congratulations slowloris!

Hi Angelchrome,

10-15 working days is not realistic.  Many people are waiting over 20 days. I dont want you to get your hopes up!  Let's hope for no more than 30 waiting days at this point!
