Hello!

For all those out there waiting...

Email From NYC consulate confirming receipt of application: March 4 2011
Email stating my visa had been issued: April 13 2011
Passport received with visa via UPS: April 14 2011

Now to get that plane ticket!

Waiting is torture.  But it will come through!

We have exactly the same dates. So happy.

I think tonight we'll start looking at a potential date for the flight, ready to book it as soon as the visa and paperwork arrives in the post.

Hi PaulnTammy
Well we put a ton of supporting documents which hubby reports they returned all the orginals and quite a lot of the photocopies we spent back (I don't think they needed as much as we provided!).

As the sponsor I sent - 6 months bank statements and Payslips, Employer Contract and a letter, Mortgage Statements, Land Registry Document, Certified Marriage Certificate,  notorised copy of passport, birth certificate (although I don't think this was necessary with the passport), previous marriage certificate and divorce paper, wedding photographs, I also sent a screenshot of emails to show we communicated before marriage etc and tickets of travel and receipts of where we stayed from previous visits but from what I hear I don't think this was necessary as it was a spouse visa, we had just got married and were together at the time of the application and I think they returned these and the photocopies. Overkill maybe  ;D

Hubby sent: Passport, biometrics confirmation, previous divorce papers, a letter from his parents - he has been a carer for them for a few years so that's his 'job', paypal receipt for income received from me (we put he received some money in the past so felt we needed to back that up but not sure it was necessary again). I think due to my worrying nature we included everything but the kitchen sink, hubby kept saying 'I don't think we need this in  ::) '

Seems hubby's list was far shorter than mine! ;)

Sorry long reply! Phew..Just glad it's done and he has his spouse visa in hand.
Good luck! :)

Hello,
I must say I am so glad to have found this website. :)  It is nice to know that there are people who  know your frustrations.

My husband (British) and I were married on March 11.
Our biometrics were done on the 24th of March.
Sent out paperwork on the 25th (non priority) and by the 28th we had the email stating they received out package.

Here we are at 15 working days and counting.  After reading a few testimonies that some couples got their visas in 27 working days or so I feel a bit better.   I am 4 months pregnant and would like to be in England for the birth.  If we have the baby in the States we would be risking a huge financial burden plus waiting for the baby to get its passport before we can fly back.  Lets just say I am a bit stressed.

For everyone else waiting I know your frustration.

Smash

Hi Smash :)
Welcome to the website, I must say I have found it so useful over the years!  Congratulations on the little one and I am sure you will be over here before the birth! But I can imagine it must be stressful for you waiting, waiting and waiting but looks like you shouldn't be waiting too long now though:)
Good luck!

Welcome aboard, Smash and congrats on the impending wee one! :)

Quick question. I've seen reference to number of calendar days it took to receive a response. Was everyone counting weekends as well into that?

It is only working days, not to include holidays or observances.
