Congrats!! It's so nice to hear about all these visa's being issued. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
We stole countries with the cunning use of flags. Just sail around the world and stick a flag in. "I claim India for Britain!" They're going "You can't claim us, we live here! Five hundred million of us!" "Do you have a flag …? "What? We don't need a flag, this is our home, you bastards" "No flag, No Country, You can't have one! Those are the rules... that I just made up!...and I'm backing it up with this gun, that was lent to me from the National Rifle Association."

My visa has also been issued!  Here's my final timeline:

Spousal Application submitted online         Tuesday, June 14
Biometrics Appointment                            Monday, June 20
Documents sent via USPS to NY consulate  Monday, June 20
Signed for by "Blyth"                                Wednesday, June 22 @ 12:57 PM
Confirmation email from NY consulate        Monday, June 27 @ 12:20 PM
Email confirming visa has been issued        Friday, July 8 @ 10:45 AM

My case was fairly straightforward other than quite a few entrances to Northern Ireland via Dublin and my complete reliance on my fiance for monetary support until I get a job (poor unemployed recent college grad).

Hopefully I'll receive my visa by tomorrow morning (not sure how it'll work because of it being Saturday), and I'll be in Belfast by the middle of next week!  Good luck to all of you still waiting!

xxBrittany

Hi pads, no, I didn't pay for priority.  I was a bit nervous after submitting and realizing that EVERYONE seems to do priority.  But even without it it worked out okay :)

OK - final time line for me:

May 20 - applied for returning resident
May 23 - biometrics appointment
June 1 - email that docs received (they were delivered on May 25)
June 14 - email of assignment to ECO
June 21 - Visa refused; couldn't prove that I had maintained close ties to the UK, and had negated the ILR from 1994 when I entered as a visitor in 2009.
June 25 - Applied for spousal visa on-line
June 30 - Biometrics appointment
July 1 - sent docs with priority service
July 5 - email that docs received
July 7 - email that visa approved
July 8 - received visa
July 8 - flight to UK, but missed connection due to weather
July 9 - sitting in airport waiting for flight

The visa is 27 months, and I need to take KOL. I assume then can convert ILE, as wel have been married 19 years and lived outside the UK from 2000 - June 2011
Married December 1992 (my 'old flame' whom I first met in the mid-70s)
1st move to UK - 1993 (Letter of Consent granted at British Embassy in Washington DC)
ILR - 1994 (1 year later - no fee way back then!)
Back to US in 2000
Returned to UK July 2011 (Spousal Visa/KOL endorsement)
ILR - September 2011
Application for naturalization submitted July 2014
Approval received 15-10-14; ceremony scheduled for 10 November!
Passport arrived 25 November 2014. Finally done!

You get an email when they open the package, not when it arrives.

Not everyone always gets an email.

There isn't any place for you to contact.  It stinks.

Ksand- Thank you for always responding to my posts and helping me out alot!!!  I really do appreciate it.  I don't think I would have been clear on doing things the right way if it wasn't for this info on this messageboard!

I am thrilled my Visa was issued in 48 hours!  The Priority Service made a huge difference.  I will be checking my Visa sticker to make sure there are no errors and then booking my flight.  I wrote my return date on the application for July 20th.

I am now trying to focus and read about what to do next once I get back to the UK, which more questions will pop up! :)
