Alrighty...so I'm one of the few that did NOT pay for the priority service (it was on accident, but hey!) and my timeline looks like this:

27 June 2011 - Online Application Complete
30 June 2011 - Biometrics appointment
30 June 2011 - Supporting Docs sent to NYC (Non-Priority)
06 July 2011 - Received notification that Supporting Documents are prepped for ECO
14 July 2011 - VISA APPROVED!!
15 July 2011 - Visa received!

So it only took 2 weeks from the date I sent everything in and I got to hold on to $300. I can't complain!

I didn't sign my application but that apparently was not an issue. And it looks as though the only documents they took into consideration were my husband's bank statements, his mortgage statements, letter stating his car was paid off, our wedding invitation and our marriage license.

Will be Wales bound in less than 2 weeks! Yay!

Hi everyone,

I also did not pay for priority processing...

July 7 2011- Completed settlement visa application
July 14- Biometrics Appt and mailed documents to NY consulate
July 18- Documents signed for by "J Blyth"
July 21- Received email that my documents were being prepared for review by ECO
July 25- Received email that "visa has been issued"; I should receive my documents tomorrow by UPS next day service!

Thank you to everyone for the help and advice!  Looking forward to this new chapter in our lives  ;D

I'm a US citizen officially living in Belgium and applied for the Fiance Settlement visa at the Paris Office (ghastly).

Timeline thus far:
4 July: on-line application and payment sent
11 July: biometrics and supporting documents submission in Paris
1 August: UKBA contact my finance's employer for proof of employment.

An added note:
When I announced my engagement to my Belgian employer stressing that I would be completing my one year contract (ending in January 2012) although we planned to marry in late September. My employer promptly fired me!

So now I am jobless and passportless and waiting with much anxiety.
Long time Anglophile now a bit homesick...

Just adding to the thread for reference...

Jul 22 - submitted online application
Jul 23 - paid for priority service (yes, we didn't read properly!)
Jul 25 - biometrics appointment / Fed-Ex supporting documents
Jul 26 - email notification of receipt and that application will be processed priority
Aug 3 - email notification that visa has been issued

Yay! Going home soon! :)

I wish I had found this site months ago, my husband came to Scotland in aug last year on a visitor visa for 6 months we planned to moving to the states, we visited the US for 4 weeks in nov assuming the border would issue the remaining moths on the original visitor visa when we re entered but he gave him another 6 months.  This turned out great as we decided to settle here instead however we didn't know you couldn't apply for settlement from visitor visa I know just stupid and not read things right. So we applied and during the time my husbands father passed away and they wouldn't returnee doc with. Out rejecting the app.

They ended up rejecting it anyway and we got his passport back the day after the funeral, we told the ukba he would be overstaying and we needed to arrange for him to leave as we have a 10 month old son and I work evenings til midnight.  He left 5 weeks ago and it took us ages to find the correct form and fill it in, probably reading it too much but have already lost £550 we need to be sure.

We got an exceptional case email last wed to say up to 15 working days which takes up very close to our sons first birthday I am so nervous we are only on day 4 and I can not think of anything else.

mdunn I really feel for you we are in a similar situation,  My daughter in law and grand daughter are in america hoping to apply this week god willing,  We haven't seen our grand daughter yet and not seen our daughter in law for 18 months.

I hope you get your husband back in time for your sons' birthday our grand daughter is 8 months now so we are hoping she is here for her first birthday.

Good luck to everyone who is waiting I will post on here when we are waiting.

Love pads x

Does everyone get a email when they start your case? Or did some people hear nothing at all ?

I got an email when they received my application and that they'll be processing it priority. Other than that, the next email you get should hopefully be just that your visa has been issued and your documents will be mailed back the next day.

It's been three working days since it arrived at NY ... I didn't do it priority , should I still get that first email? The wait is killing me  :-\\\\
