you should still receive an email acknowledging that they have received it, however, they sometimes don't. Hopefully you will hear from them soon
Sept 2, online application
Sept 9, biometrics appointment, purchased priority & sent package to UK Consulate NYC
Sept 12, package delivered 9 am, email of receipt @2:56pm NY Time
Sept 15, passport arrived in the post with visa.

Hi pads,

I am thinking of you and your family I know how difficult this is, especially when it involves children.  This has been by far the most stressful and emotionally draining experience of my life.

Day 5 and counting 10 more to go and praying and email checking constantly

Hopefully tomorrow! Can't wait to get back to my hubby.... A friend of mine is waiting on a different visa and the consulate gave her this web site... First time I have seen it! Let's hope it's accurate

When to worry?

I submitted my settlement application on-line to the Paris office on 4 July, biometrics appointment on the 11 July and as of today, 10 August....still waiting.

On 2 August, the Paris office contacted my fiance's employer to confirm her employment details and I have just heard from her (the fiancee) that her HR department gave out the wrong start date?

I would think that if they had a question, they would have contacted us by now? Anyone else had such a long wait time?

Very worried and stressed in Belgium.....
Long time Anglophile now a bit homesick...

You or your employer will get a call only if they have questions or concerns ... You could hear nothing at all!

Thanks violethunter

It's just so difficult to know is it going ok but I suppose you just don't know it's all about the waiting.

Hi everyone.
Interesting thread this. A couple of follow up questions as my wife (I am British) has just applied for her Spousal / Settlement Visa.
1) I note here above that several people mention the Chicago office when referring to where they sent their application. Chicago is nearer for us as we are in MN, however we had read that all applications for this visa had to go to NYC. Can anyone clarify?

2) I also see mention of people receiving emails noting receipt and completion of visas. Is this standard procedure for the Spousal / Settlement visa? I ask this because the delivery tracking has confirmed receipt in NYC of her visa application but we have received no email.

Thanks all,

Will Yates

Hi Wil!

Everything is going thru NYC now, Chicago closed a while back.  It seems that most people get emails but not all.  It's a bit frustrating.  Did she apply with priority?

Thanks SScarllet.
No, it wasn't sent priority. I hadn't read about that until I saw it on this site and after we sent the packet. It sounds more expensive also.
We got confirmation that the packet had arrived in New York on Monday of this week (August 8th). I have a job in London that starts on the 22nd necessitating me to leave on the 19th, but I'm hoping and praying that my wife (and our two kids) will be able to fly out just a week later on the 26th... Visa in passport permitting.

Cheers.

Will

Hi Will

My fingers are crossed it seems to be a lottery of sorts people without priority get it in 2 days some wait 2 months.

Does anyone know or anyone on priority with and exceptional case email who has got a response sooner than the 15 days?  The posts sonar seem to be dead on the 15 days and no hope for quicker.  Currently on day 8 tomorrow.

I'm not sure if mine was an exceptional case, but I got my visa within 5 working days with priority service. Perhaps the office is swamped with student visas this time of the year? And these are visas with urgent deadlines as well?

Hope you hear back soon! I found it helpful to start packing when I felt like I couldn't wait anymore...and that was on like day 3!

Hooray for you! I finished my application but I am sooo nervous about hitting the final send button. I have one week to do it so I must but I am petrified that I'll eff something up.
