Maybe I should have searched on here before I went Parcel Force! I was pretty taken in by their website, promising tracking and next day delivery to the USA etc, for only £30. Well they didn't mention at what weight that would DOUBLE, and I got stuck with the "2 working days to any other destination" one. I went with them for the sheer convenience of being able to go to my Post Office and have it out of my hands, plus I started work late to be there at all! Ah well, you live and learn, and hopefully my experience can help someone else :)

Yeah, the problem with Parcel Force is that they are part of Royal Mail; this means that packages generally cannot be tracked once they leave the UK and they also have to go through regular customs when they arrive in the US... and if the package contains important documents, such as passports etc., that can cause it to get held up in customs for up to several weeks (if you're unlucky)!

Courier services such as FedEx, UPS and DHL have good tracking services and they also have their own customs facilities; this means that the packages will arrive quickly, they can be tracked right through and they won't get held up in US customs.

Hi

Does anyone know who or if you can contact the NY office if they go over SLA.

We got told up to 15 working days which is not up until Tuesday but just wondering if you allowed to chase if they go over?

I don't know how you can chase them considering it is almost impossible to speak to someone at the Consulate and even if you do, they won't discuss anything regarding the application with you. I think a few people on UKY who were exceptional cases and  had purchase priority got their decision on the 16th day. Hopefully you'll hear good news soon
Sept 2, online application
Sept 9, biometrics appointment, purchased priority & sent package to UK Consulate NYC
Sept 12, package delivered 9 am, email of receipt @2:56pm NY Time
Sept 15, passport arrived in the post with visa.

I believe that you can contact them via email after the 15th day, unless they sent you an email saying that it was an exceptional case and would take longer.

The only two exceptional cases I am aware of that paid for priority had them processed on 15 and 16 days respectively.

I think you can contact the consulate by email if it takes longer than this.

I know someone once waited two months without priority and she had a very good reason why she needed to get back to the UK her MIL was dying and they processed her visa once she contacted them.

Good luck love hope you here soon, really feeling for you and your situation x

Hope this helps love pads x

Such a handy thread. The consulate in NY got my package last Monday, and no confirmation. However, that doesn't seem to be completely out of line with the experience of others so I will now make a nice dinner, and continue on with packing instead of panicking.

I am optimistic, because my husband is an Icelander living in London, so I count as an EEA family member. That seems to have it's advantages -- treaty law vs. whatever they feel like doing today law. Still, one never knows...

Good luck to all of us in the middle of the process, and many thanks to everyone who's sharing their experiences.
Sometimes I amaze even myself.

Thanks again pads

Well it's day 15 and I have been biting my nails all day and checking email every 30 seconds!

Worse than waiting is not knowing what we can do if it goes past day 15 then 16?
