Guys, I just received some horrible news...

I'm going to be stuck with my wife for the rest of my life, AS HER VISA WAS APPROVED TODAY!!!!!!

Visa app done online: 21/8
Biometrics done: 23/8
Visa mailed: 28/8 using priority mail through USPS

Not sure when they received it as they didn't feel it necessary to email us when they got it, but just got the approval email!!!!

Thank you to EVERYBODY on UKY, you're all fantastic, this board has kept me sane all these months.

I cannot thank Webyj enough in particular, words fail me. She has been our visa guru from the day we decided to start researching how to go about getting a visa, until this absolutely fantastic, life changing day. Yes we did our own research, but without Webyj's reassurances and patience we surely would have spent very much longer (and probably spent a lot more money - we'd have been scared into using a lawyer or visa service) than we eventually did. So thank you so much Webyj, you've been a rock for us (and me especially) during this very nerve wracking time.

You were right, we didn't need to worry at all. (:

Hee hee :)
That's fantastic news!! Congratulations!

I too am looking forward to the day I can say: WebyJ you were right, I was wrong, I didn't need to worry ;)

Rebotting, unfortunately you can't apply for priority processing unless you cancel your application, pay the fees and take your biometrics again. So you'd be looking at forking out another $1300-ish.

Hang in there, I'm sure you'll be fine!

Congrats to everyone who has received good news recently. I just found this board yesterday and I have to admit, it's helped with the stress of waiting. So here's my time line thus far:

Submitted online application on: August 28, 2010
Biometrics: September 2, 2010
Sent application and supporting docs via overnight priority mail to LA: September 2, 2010
USPS verifies delivery: September 3, 2010

And now...waiting. I haven't received an email yet saying they have my application and are processing it. I submitted as Settlement Priority and was trying to gauge how long the LA office is taking to process the priority settlement visas currently. Anyone have any idea? I've been reading on here and I see a lot of people go through NY and Chicago, but not too much info on LA. Forgive me if I've managed to overlook something.

I'm obviously worried, much like the rest of you, that I didn't supply enough in the way of support for my application. I didn't think to submit my husband's bank statements but I did submit his two most recent pay stubs as well as what I guess is considered an English version of a W-2 as well as a letter from his employer stating his monthly income and the fact that he has been employed with them for 5 years. On the application I stated his monthly expenditures which leaves more than enough left to support me while I pursue employment. I also included the Land Registry for his parents house, where we will be living while we save for our own place, as well as a recent council tax statement for that property. I added in my divorce decree from my previous marriage, as well as several emails back and forth over the course of our relationship, some of which included photos of us.

I'm concerned my application may take longer because I have a criminal conviction on my record, or at least I think I do. 11 years ago I got convicted of a misdemeanor of misconduct. It technically shouldn't even show up on my record anymore and I included a letter from the attorney I had that stated what the conviction was and my sentence for it (100 hours community service and to stay out of trouble for 6 months). I was barely 18 when it happened and haven't done anything since, apart from having a speeding ticket or two. I didn't include information on my speeding tickets as they were all paid off and I have no idea where to find record of them.

Anyone have any advice? I know we're all looking for answers and news. This place definitely seems to make the wait a little bit easier.

Sorry for the long post, especially as it's my first one on this board.

Cheers.

Considering Monday was a holiday and the Consulates were closed it will probably be a little of a wait before you get a confirmation email. But don't stress if you don't get a confirmation email as it sometimes doesn't happen.

As far as worrying about details of your application it's a little late for that as you've already sent it in...just sit back, try to relax and not worry about it. Because you have convictions they'll have to research it and compare it to UK Sentencing Manual and see if it considered 'Spent' under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act of 1974 so it will take a bit of extra time to process. Be prepared for longer than a 15 Business day time frame quoted by the Settlement Priority Service because you do have conviction that need to be researched.

Good Luck to you.

I can't believe it, I feel like I've been hit by a truck or something. I got that approved email today!!!

Applied for visa: 19 Aug
Biometrics appointment: 25 Aug
Docs sent UPS next day service: 25 Aug
Chicago consulate received: it 26 Aug
Approved visa email: 8 Sept

I think it was 8 working days? I did have a previous refusal, so that quick turnaround was well worth the $300 for settlement priority service!

Hope to meet some of you fellow UKYankees in Leeds sometime!

Thank you everyone for being patient, supportive, understanding and so helpful!  ;D

Good luck to everyone who is waiting.

Congrats magikalcattie!

WebyJ, thanks for the info. Really hoping it doesn't take that long. Already been away from my husband for too long, don't know how I'll get through if it takes much longer than that. Hopefully it won't be a big deal. Again, thanks. :)

Congrats, Joffa and Magikalcattie!!!

Everyone still waiting... I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you two!

I missed the UPS guy today and had to drive to the closest center to pick up my package after work.. so finally, visa in hand!

Duvillionaire - welcome to purgatory! Try not to worry too much. You will drive yourself crazy! Hopefully, you won't have too long to wait :)
