Yeah.. I'm a worrier as well. I'm going to give myself grey hairs before it's over with and cause my husband to lose what hair he has left, lol!

lol good luck on the application whenever you do decide to apply and try not to worry him so much that he ends up doing something like re-modeling the bedroom like mine did lol

Just to clarify/clear up a couple of things:

you don't pay priority mail to get them to make a swift decision its priority service on their part that is paid for meaning you pay extra when you pay for the application online via worldbridge for them to decide within 15 days or less

You don't pay for the priority processing service when you pay for the application online, you pay for it on the day that you mail your documents to the consulate (not before). This will be after your biometrics appointment and may be a couple of weeks after applying online.

You need to purchase the 'Settlement Priority Service' for $300 (there is also a normal Priority Service for $150 and 48-hour processing, but you cannot use this one) from the Worldbridge website on that day that you mail the documents: https://www.visainfoservices.com/Pages/dest_org.aspx

Holy Crap! :s And they guarantee an answer within 15 days? I mean, I guess the price is worth it if your in a pinch time wise with when you are wanting to move...

At the moment, the priority service applications are generally only taking a couple of days to be processed, while the non-priority are only taking around 2-3 weeks, so actually you might still get the visa processed within about 15 working days even if you don't pay the $300 extra.

it is recommended to pay the extra only for those who have straight forward cases but for those who have been refused, overstayed, or bounced out for any reason its best that they don't pay the extra as it might require more time then the 15 days to make a decision

Actually, I would recommend using the priority service even if you have a non-straightforward application (what it actually says on the Worldbridge website is that you can use the service, but it might take a bit longer than 15 working days)... because it will still speed up the processing time - the application will be looked at more quickly than if you didn't pay for the service.

People with non-straightforward applications who have paid for priority recently have had their visas processed within 3 or 4 weeks, whereas if they hadn't paid for priority they could have been waiting up to a couple of months.

lol dont worry too much it will give you headaches as well as wrinkles and grey hair before time lol its harder in the beginning of the waiting game then anything im 19 business days (not including holidays) in it and have managed to brush it off so not to care as much as i did in the beginning when i kept making my husband call the lawyer to see if she received any kind of email from them

Have you not had any emails from them to say they have received and opened your application for processing? The processing time would usually start from the date you got the email to say they have opened the application for processing.

Just noticed though now that she's here, the Visa is set to expire in two years. I thought that if we were married over 4 years (been married 8 years) that it shouldn't expire??

But my knowledge on this is lacking.

Does it say "KOL req" on it?

No, only thing on it is valid from (or issue date), expiry date, wife's info and then the "no recourse to public funds" statement.

Did you send evidence that you've been living together outside the UK for more than four years, and did you point it out in your sponsor letter?  Also, has your wife taken he Life in the UK test?

his wife couldn't have taken the test as she's only been there for a few weeks i remember when his wife got her visa issued. It would have been best to look over the visa before flying out and contacted NY Hub and pointed it as i have seen other people do before on here but i am not sure if they fix it once you have already arrived into the UK i would probably call them and ask them in the UK Home Office

Yeah, sent them everything. Included a letter with our timeline from when we met in 2002 and then married in 2003. Sent all joint tax returns showing we filed together, bills with both names dating back to 2004.

Guess we just lucked out. No matter, wife is still here so we'll just wait two years before doing the rest, not too fussed.

Is it worth it to try?

Being a Visa newbie, I figured what we have would still be okay except that we would just wait two years before going for the ILR. Is there any benefit in contacting them?

Just unsure what that would mean given that she is already here and that's what we wanted anyways :)

She could have fixed it before she left, but it's too late now.  The visa has been stamped.

Phillymirah, many people have taken the test before applying for their visas, the fact that she's only been here a few weeks is not relevant to my question.
