Hello Everyone!

I have been lurking around this site for a while now, and I just wanted to thank everyone here for their great advice! I got my Spousal Visa issued today, and I feel free! Also, I am very impressed by the UK consulate in NYC! Took less than three days to get approved from when they started processing the visa! I am shocked!

Timeline:

Dec 9, 2011 - Married
Feb 29, 2012 - Applied Online (No Priority)
March 2, 2012 - Biometric Appointment
March 2, 2012 - Mailed to NYC
March 6, 2012 - Visa processing begins
March 8, 2012 - Visa approved!

Thanks again! Jenny x

Hi everyone I have been posting on the other threads some questions but just found this one so will add my timeline here:

Type of Visa - Spouse
March 2, 2012 - Applied Online (No Priority)
March 5, 2012 - Biometric Appointment
March 5, 2012 - Mailed to NYC
March 8, 2012 - Visa processing begins

I am on business day 5 of waiting.  I unfortunately found these boards after the fact and realized that I may not have been clear enough in my documentation regarding maintenance, everything else really should not be an issue as we should meet all other areas no problem.  I had printed off the pdf Supporting Documents Guide for the visa and used that as a guide as I put my application together, now I know that was not correct as it says NOTHING in there about official copies.  I have even sent WorldBridge an email explaining my mistake to see if I can overnight notarized copies of everything and they wrote back and said NOPE!  lol.  So all I can do is wait.  Fingers crossed for an understanding ECO who will contact us for any incorrect documentation.

It will be a very expensive mistake if I have to resubmit, but if I do, what else can I do!   :)  To be honest a few things have changed in our favor in the last few days as far as maintenance (DH has offer of 6m contract in family business, we will have our several thousand $$ tax refund next week, I have confirmed an additional contract for next fall) so those should help in the future.  I know we will get the visa in the end.  I will keep everyone posted!

Which documents in particular were you concerned about as far as the copies/certified/originals thing?  I'm pretty sure it's mentioned in a few places on the UKBA website because I seem to remember finding it while making my own application, but navigating that site can be labyrinthine.  Seriously, I wanted to punch my computer a couple times.  Anyway, I know they at least mention wanting "originals, not copies" here:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/partners-families/citizens-settled/spouse-cp/documents

Still, I bet you'll be okay; five days isn't in the danger zone just yet, haha.  If they need to know more, they may request further evidence or clarification before a flat-out denial.  And like you said, one way or another, you'll get it in the end.  Best of luck!  Try not to worry, and please do keep us posted.  :)

Basically everything was copies except for my passport, marriage certificate, letter from my employer verifying my history and my husband's "invitation" letter.  Bank statements, husband's passport, birth certificate, etc.  Everything.  Yes I know it says it on the website but what I did was read the website months ago, then I printed off the below to keep for reference.  I used the pdf as guidance when putting things together.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/documents/out-of-country/sup-docs-settlement.pdf

Big mistake.   :(  Oh well.  We will see!  Positive, happy thoughts!  lol.  As people have said, let's hope I get an ECO who is having a GREAT day and will call or email to ask me to submit.  I have ran around all week getting docs in preparation either for resubmit or new application, so I am ready for whatever comes next.

Well I got the infamous "your visa has been issued" email.  Do deliveries come on Saturday?  Otherwise it will be a long time until Monday.  Hoping it is good news!

Congratz geordiewife, unless I am mistaken if the email says "your visa has been issued" then that's just what it will mean :-) I don't think they send one that says it has been issued if there is something else they want or a problem. Yay you!

It is good news - you got your visa!

Congrats!!!

And, as always, remember to check your visa for errors before confirming any travel.  :)

Haha, neat.  I didn't even notice that.

Congratulations on your visa!  I had a feeling it would turn out well for you.  :)  Now you can relax a bit!

With mine, I got the e-mail Monday and it arrived Tuesday.  It came via UPS, and when I checked their next-day delivery on the website, it says "next business day."  So I'm guessing it could be Monday when you get your passport and stuff back, but you never know!  Hopefully it gets to you Saturday so you can swoon over that shiny new visa in your passport.  Where are you bound for in the UK?
