It does seem to me like there hasn't been much happening this week.  Good luck to everyone though, maybe there will be some happy action today!  Let's hope so ...

Nope, and with three hours remaining of day 34 NY, today is not looking hopeful :^(

I still don't quite understand how some people applied earlier and yet got their visa earlier. I think next week will be the week for everyone!

I agree - it almost feels like they took this week off and didn't tell us!  ;)

They might be scrambling to get all the Tier 4 visas done before school starts.

I agree with that Andy.  However I feel family matters are more important than student matters, just saying.

Maybe, but students must have their visas issued in the next week or two, or they will miss the beginning of the school year and possibly find that they are too late and are unable to move to the UK at all... they have time-limits and deadlines for entering the UK and starting their studies.

Family visas do not have these time limits because you can enter the UK on a family visa at any time of the year - you may wish to travel to the UK on a certain date, but if you miss that date it won't screw up your education or cause you to miss your opportunity to move to the UK.

Agreed.  Not getting a Tier 4 in time can potentially ruin everything, all the months of planning. It can cause someone to have to defer their education for a whole year, since UK university very rarely has the option of starting at any other point during the year besides September.

So, to the folks who are on day 30+ with the New York office, had you purchased the expedited option, or just stuck with the standard processing?

Just wondering, since the Chicago consulate isn't going to be taking them anymore, and I'll probably have to submit through NY.

Woad - They chose not to use the Settlement Priority Service. My advice would be for anyone that needs their visa in less than 3 months to use the Settlement Priority Service. If not, then heed the advice that UKBA states and apply 3 months in advance of your intended travel date and expect it to take the entire 12 weeks to process. Anything earlier than that, consider yourself lucky!

That's plenty of time and with the service you should hear something in 15 working days, if not earlier...Good Luck!
