I think LA took a week of relaxation.  Oh well, more time to fill up on Chicken Fried Steak, pork rinds, root beer, and Chattanooga Chew candy...the things I will miss the most.  Good luck to all this coming week...

Pork rinds are known as pork scratchings in the UK, so you won't have to give that up. HTH.

thank you guys for your support. She has neither decieved nor has she a criminal record, so fingers crossed for us we can fix this. Everyone is heart broken right now.

I am wishing everyone here all the best luck in the world with their applications, I would not wish this feeling on anyone  :\\\'(

Bekicos just reading this made me nervous as my application arrives at the consulate tomorrow morning.  I pray that everything sorts itself out... and if it doesn't your lawyer will for sure.

Best of luck with everything

I'm so sorry Bekicos :-\ Yes, wait for everything to com bakc in the mail, they send a letter saying exactly what was wrong with it so you know what to "fix". I hope it's something easy for you!

Congratulations mrscolgan, this has to mean things are picking up and the rest of us will hear soon! My wait hasn't been as long as some, I'm only at day 34 (though with them working weekends do we count weekends now?!?!?) but I hope this week is the bombshell week for all of us!

Andy

They are close, but the scratchings I got there were too much pork, not enough rind.  Like the subtle diffs between jerky and biltong.  :D
But at least I will soon have unlimited access to Soreen's Malt Loaf and Hob Nobs.  Oh, happy days...

Yes, you would have to re-apply and go through the entire visa application process all over again: online form, pay for visa, gather documents, attend biometrics, send documents to consulate (and pay for priority processing if you wish to).

In the case of a forgotten document, will the ECO or UKBA ever contact you and say "you forgot to include X or Y; can you please send to us so we can complete your application"? or is it always "You are screwed, give us more money"?

I am not sure why I am panicking, probably because I can... It took me two single-spaced pages (and almost 1100 words) in my cover letter just to list and describe every document I provided and every document I submitted on behalf of my wife...

If you forgot a document they are within the guidlines to refuse the application since ALL documents are to be submitted with the application when you send it to the Consulate for processing. So they're SUPPOSED to refuse if you didn't send something you were supposed to.

What we've seen however with settlement visas there has been the odd occaision where the ECO has phoned the applicant/sponsor to verify information verbally or to request additional information. But there is nothing that says they MUST do this.

I'm hopefully going to submit my application tomorrow morning and I'm really in a state of anxiousness and panic. After reading how someone just got denied makes me worry even worse.

I'm definitely going to take the time to add more financial information to my application, I don't want to risk my life. I'll be so crushed if I cannot reunite with my future husband to be. :(

My first post, I have been reading this particular thread intently during the past two weeks.

Hello Everyone,

I, like many others, have been lurking in the background, gathering lots of information and details on this whole Visa Settlement process...and thank God, you're here to assist!

First time posting a note, and of course, I have a question:)

My fiancé (UKC) & I (USC) are here in London (Hemel Hempstead), about to embark on this crazy journey of love that will culminate with our wedding in NYC on October 27th (City Hall).

Since I've been on UKY, there have been so many changes to the process, I go from being fully confident to a bag of worried mush, trying to get it all correct.

So here's my question(s) (so sorry to repeat if posted here previously)...

We're leaving and arrive in NYC on Oct. 21st, will wed on the 27th...is there a better or more conclusive way to schedule my biometrics test to happen soon afterwards (say the 28th or 29th)? With the closure of the Chicago consulate processing branch, more applications will be coming through NY, correct? Does this mean it will take longer to receive the visa (Spousal) even if you pay for priority?

We've purchased a roundtrip ticket (that's changeable for a fee) on Nov. 20th - call it wishful thinking:)

Also, is it okay to have a faxed copy of my divorce decree - i've been told I'd have to contact the Brooklyn Supreme Court office to get an 'original'????

After reading how so many have been glued to their computers, waiting for a reply, my intended has booked a 3 week honeymoon across the States (NYC, Chicago, SF) to keep my mind off of the waiting and hands off of the computer!

So hoping that anyone who has gone or is going through the process currently (in NY) can give us some insight as to how things are at the moment in NY (especially for biometric schedule timings - hope i don't have to wait weeks for an appointment...:( )

WebJ and Transpondia, you have no idea how grateful we all are for your assistance
and kindness - you've made a traumatic, stressful situation less so!

eternally grateful
thanks in advance

I'll offer up advice on the biometrics: they don't get done in NY. When you finish your online application and submit it, at the end, it asks you to schedule the appointment. You pick your state, it shows you centers in your state that do the biometrics, and then you schedule a time from what they have available. And your biometrics has to be completed no more than 2 weeks after the application is submitted online. Very best of luck to you, and congratulations on the upcoming wedding bubsy!

i submitted my online application on friday the 1st and i have my biometrics scheduled for this thursday! i was so confident after reading everything on this site and getting my binder of stuff ready for the consulate - and after reading someone getting denied my nerves are shot now. :( i'm a USC, i have 3 minor traffic offenses from 2006 and 2008 (i put in a certified copy of my driving record), i was married thursday and applied friday, i filled everything out on the application as best as i could, our financials are ok, but i'm just so nervous now :(

something i never thought about, do they check your credit? i have loans from college i'm paying on...

anyways, the plan is to overnight my paperwork this thursday right after my biometrics appt. and my tummy is already in knots. i have included everything i think i need (think being the operative word) and even listened to WebyJ's advice when she politely told me not to muck up my application with too much paper ;) as hard as it was for me! any final words of advice as to what to include/what not to?
