So sorry to hear GCJ.  :(

I agree with EmmJayye and peggles - if you would like input on your case, once you have more information (and of course, if you are comfortable sharing), you could post it and perhaps get some good advice.  As peggles said, lots of folks here with knowledge and experience.  Perhaps it is something easily remedied like a missing document.

Best of luck.

Thank you for your kind thoughts...

I think it may be lack of proof of funds which we can rectify if that is the given reason.

We have sought legal advice but will update when we get the refusal letter.

Really can't sleep now!  We were on Skype when he got the email - my heart jumped to hear news then heard the worst.  A really awful experience so far..

GCJ - Often it is a simple fix & reapplication with the missing informtaion/documents included is much faster than an appeal (which can take up to a year to decide). An AR (Administrative Review) will just check to see if the ECO made a mistake refusing your application and will not address any new documentation or information that you provide. So it's best to wait for your refusal letter, see what you've omitted and gather the proper documents & reapply.

Things like this can be fixed. Good Luck to you.

Thank you Webj.

I did come across this information on Worldbridge:

'If you have documents supporting your Grounds of Appeal you should send these with Form IAFT-2.

'If you have a Full Right of Appeal you can decide to appeal against this decision or reapply for another visa after you have addressed the reasons for the original refusal.  If you decide to appeal against the refusal of your application, the decision will be reviewed in conjunction with your grounds of appeal.  If you have any additional documentation which addresses the reasons for refusal, you are strongly advised to submit it with your notice of appeal, as it may be possible to resolve the points at issue without the need for an appeal hearing'.

'When the IAC has recorded your appeal they will send a Notice of Receipt to the visa section that refused your application. You should enclose all additional supporting documentation with your appeal. When the visa section receives the Notice of Receipt, an Entry Clearance Manager (ECM) will review the decision to refuse your application in light of your Notice of Appeal and any supporting documents. If the ECM is then satisfied that your application meets the Immigration Rules, the original decision may be overturned, and entry clearance issued'.

So is this saying you can send additional documents??  ???

You can always appeal, but that process can take A VERY LONG TIME, so in most cases people will just reapply and supply the missing information as this can be accomplished in a few weeks rather than several months or even up to a year.

I have always been told that appeals cannot address new information or documents that are subsequent to the application (came into existance after you submitted your documents).

Best thing to do is wait for your refusal letter and it should say what you can do.

Just joining the wait with you guys.
NY Consulate
Applied: Aug 13 (non priority)
Biometrics: Aug 16
Docs sent: Aug 17 (delivery confirmed Aug 19)

No email confirming "visa is being processed" yet. Here's hoping I get one today or tomorrow. I'll update when I move along in the process, but at the moment the NY processing times have not been especially encouraging.
Arrived 12 Oct 2010/Spousal Visa
Whole new world for a Southern gardener, but I'm very happy.

Anglechrome,

Hopefully you receive an email confirmation today. It only took the NY consulate two days for the confirmation email. I am a non-priority application too. I am day 17 of processing.

Ugh, day 17 here too... and judging by the fact this business day is over in about 20 minutes, it's looking like I'm up against another day tomorrow. I'm not sure my body can take any more of the stress!  >:(

I'm praying I get an answer before Friday, otherwise I'm going to have to then endure a 3 day weekend with Labor Day.

Not a fan right now. Hope others are having better luck.

So nobody got any news :(

Day 36 and I want to scream. (LA non priority)

EmmJayye- Labor Day is on Sept 6. I just googled UK holidays though and found that Aug 30 is a bank holiday. Is that what you were talking about in your post? I guess it will be a three day weekend for the consulates then. More agony for us :(

Does anyone know if there were any other holidays recently, or any coming up?

July 5 - US Independence day
Aug 30 - UK Bank holiday
Sept 6 - Labor Day

Any others? Please please say no. I feel like I'm starting to lose it.

Peggles - you are absolutely right. I realized that when I got to work today. My weeks are blending in together  :-\\\\ I did note the UK bank holiday just as you mentioned and I'm not sure what that means for us. Their website says they are closed on "local holidays" so I assume that would mean they'll be open for next Monday but closed on Labor Day?

I get angrier and angrier on the dirt poor placement of that priority option on the website as the days go by!

About two weeks ago when I emailed WorldBridge concerning my lack of priority services knowledge, the response was a bit confusing. It seemed like they were telling me to apply all over again:

Quote
Unfortunately, priority and premium service can only be accepted prior to an applicant having mailed their documents to the British Consulate.
Applications must be submitted in the normal way. Make it clear on the application form that you wish to travel urgently and give your reasons. The Entry Clearance Officer will then decide how the application is handled.

Expedited processing may be offered in cases of medical emergencies or death in the immediate family. Please start the application process outlined in the “How to Apply” procedures on www.worldbridgeservice.com and contact us with the below details. In cases of genuine emergencies we will escalate your case to the Visa Issuing Post.

Applicant given name:
Applicant surname:
Applicant e-mail:
GWF number:
Applicant Date of birth:
Applicant Nationality:
Applicant Phone Number:
Related Case Number:
Do you have any documentation for the medical emergency?

My mother in law is battling chronic leukemia in the UK. One of the many points we included in our application as reasons to settle there (vs. my husband coming to the US). The "original documentation" to support this is already sitting on someone's desk at the Consulate. I received the above response on August 13th - already two weeks into my waiting period. I took it in stride, hoping for the best. Today, I sent a frustrated response to them. It's probably off in email space never to be heard again.. but I just don't care. I am so sick over this waiting! I'm starting to worry that they're just getting the swing of this priority business and don't quite have a grasp at handling the flow of regular applications.. Non-priority seemed to be going pretty quickly when this thread started, didn't it? Ugh..  ???

EmmJayye,

I am too angry that I did not purchase priority. I thought I was not entitled to it. They changed the rules so fast without any notification. I was on Worldbridge website so many times! One day I couldnt apply for it and the next day I could. I feel cheated. The worst feeling is not being in control of your life. I do hope we hear from the consulate soon.  I have been away from my partner and my life for the past 2.5 months. Prior to this, I have I been in the UK with my partner for the past 5 years. I do appreciate the time I have with my family in the US, but I need some structure to my life, lol. I need to get back to work, I feel like a bum.

Let's hope this is our week!!  No word on processing day 18. Let's hope day 19 brings in some luck :)
