We haven't really planned that far ahead. I know that renewing my student visa every year isn't going to be the cheapest/easiest way to do this but we won't have hit the magic 2 years of cohabitation before I need to re-up. At this point, having dealt with my comparitively uncomplicated Student Visa, I'm ready to elope to Gretna Green and be done with it  ;)

Hehe we thought about the Gretna Green thing but decided we couldn't be bothered with the COA so just went to the carribean. I've been messed around a lot by my uni as far as tuition fees and them messing up my US student loan where at one point we were going to be homeless because we ran out of money since my husband was also a student and used his grant to help me pay my tuition so that they wouldn't kick me out and report me to the homeoffice. I'm waiting to turn 21 (3 months to go) after which time I'll be applying for a spousal and wait a few years before I finish uni because it's just financially crippling right now.

That sounds great, film studies is something I was very interested in, but all programs I researched required a film background which I don't have.  However I looked at the Edinburgh website and it seems they're open to other backgrounds.

I will be doing an MSc in Electrical Technology for Sustainable and Renewable Energy Systems at the University of Nottingham.

I'm heading to the University of Liverpool (hate to admit it was my first choice because my spouse is a Reds fan, but I think it was a great choice nonetheless) in September to get an MA in Archaeology.  I've lived in North Texas since 1999, but 'y'all' never entered into my vocab. I still say "you guys" like the Yankee I am. ;)

I'm doing an MA in Arch this yr in Manchester. For me it was a lot harder than I expected.

Have fun! You'll love Manchester! (I work at the University of Manchester.) Do let us all know how you're getting on!

JoyDic007, are you surviving exams? All of the students I see look quite pale and stressed right now!

What do you do for the Uni?

In my programme we don't have exams, just turned in a 5000 and 6000 word essays last week. I'm all done, though my flatemates are all going crazy with exams.

I run research project for the Teaching and Learning Support Office (I work in the John Owen's Building). Right now, I'm mostly working with the PASS schemes with Students as Partners and a separate study on resources and feedback.

Well done finishing!

Good luck on your studies.  What are plans for when you're done with your MA? I think one of the biggest perks of the UK master's system is getting it done in one year, but that also means a lot of education over only one year.  I'm definitely hesitant but I'm really looking forward to it.

Well that makes me jealous!! :P In September, I'll have to submit a 35,000 word 'blurb' about what I've been doing 8-10 hours/day every weekday for the past 10 months! :(

I went there for my undergrad study abroad :)  Do you know where you'll be living?

PickledSakura, You went to MMU as well? How did you like it? I will be rooming with a friend in City Centre. I'm really excited. I've been to UK several times, but never more than 6 weeks at a time. I've heard that it's a really cool Uni, and they have a great student union.

Whoops! Just realized I never responded to this question!

I went to MMU for 6 months in 2007, so I'm sure some things have changed a bit since then...I lived on Oxford Road in Cavendish Halls, and conveniently fell in love with the boy from the room next door. It was a great city, as there was always something going on, and I love going to museums (Urbis was my favorite). Living in the city centre was great too, as everything was quite easily accessible. When I went, the SU was very cheap--only £1 for a pint! (Now I'm happy so long as it's under £3.--God only knows how I'll feel once the boy and I move to London, where everything seems stupidly expensive!! ::)) )
