Random of randoms: pet sitting swap!
« on: July 26, 2010, 11:58:01 PM »
For all of you who have managed to navigate the PETS scheme with success-- congratulations! A year and a half after Greta made the harrowing journey, she's hanging in there-- rabbits have now replaced squirrels as the prey that is always agonizingly out of reach. Now that family is no longer an option to care for her while we're away, we've run into the problem of the high cost of boarding/sitting, usually on top of the price of a plane ticket back to the US-- ouch. So I got to thinking how great it would be to find a pet/family that we could swap with-- we take care of yours in our home while you're away and vice versa. If anybody's interested, drop me a line. We're in the Maidenhead Berkshire area but would be willing to travel some, and we're planning on coming back to the US for around 2 weeks at Christmas (a tall order, I know) but are around pretty much all the time besides that. Thanks!

If we were closer, I'd totally do it.  Great idea.

I may be able to help.  Does your dog get along well with other dogs?  I have 2 smaller dogs and they get along with most other dogs.

I live in West Berkshire - Newbury - not far from Maidenhead.

I don't think we are going away for Christmas this year.  I'll check with the husband.

That does sound like a great idea. :) It's too bad I'm not closer, as I have no plans for Christmas but do plan to travel in November.

Big doofus dog (lab/shepherd mix) and a cat. I can probably leave the cat with my flatmate, as he's pretty low-maintenance, but the dog obviously likes walks and stuff.

I am moving with my dog Bosley (a mutant 45 pound puggle) to Manchester this spring and I have been worried about the boarding situation, as I've always had family he stayed with when I travelled.  I would be very interested in exchanging pet sitting services with others in the Manchester area once I arrive!  If you're interested, drop me a line.
