Post Partum Hairloss

I am not happy.

I've got a ton of hair so I wasn't worried when I saw how much was coming out but this last day I've noticed that a good deal of it seems to have come out of my hairline. I look like I've got a receding hairline!!

Thankfully I can cover it up a bit but it means I can't have my hair tied back.

It's really depressing me.

I've heard that it is quite common but my Pilates teacher said that after she had her second daughter loads of her hair fell out (she has tons like you) and she visited an acupuncturist to sort it as nothing else seemed to help   I can ask her about it next week if you want! 

Its weird, I didnt lose my hair, but the back of my hair turned curly.  no joke. even the stylists say its weird. lol

It may be worth mentioning to your GP and asking if it could be thyroid related.  I know I lost  quite a bit around my hairline, but I only really noticed it when the new downy hairs started growing back in.  I hope it gets better. 

I lost a lot at the hairline with both pregnancies.  My hair is very thin so was quite noticeable.  It started coming back when the girls were around 6 months old. 

I hope it gets better soon. 

Maybe in the meantime, you could invest in nice hairbands / accessories to help you feel nicer?

i had the same problem--it's normal. it's all that lovely, thick, temporary second trimester hair buggering off. that's not to say it's not depressing as hell!

I don't know if it would help, but there are some supplements called Florisene for Women that seem to get high ratings on Amazon, for preventing hair loss, etc. Maybe its worth a try?

Ashely I lost a ton of hair too... Mine is curly so it wasn't as noticeable to others as it grew back in... but I had baby fuzz bits for ages.  It took a good three months to slow down in even start growing back.  It was really scary though as I was losing what seemed like handfuls every shower.

Hang in there, but ask your GP if they feel its excessive.

My sister lost tons of hair with hers.  I thought I would with mine too, but it wasn't too bad.  When sis' started growing back, it wasn't as much fun for her as she had a pretty funky hairline for a few months.  I suspect you're probably fine, but that doesn't make it fun.

I lost tons of hair after childbirth.  I began to worry if I'd have any left?  It seemed to go back to normal though.  I can't remember how long it took.

Thanks everyone. I'm not worried about it because I know it's normal. If it gets to be too much then I'll see my doctor but it doesn't seem to terribly excessive.

It's just super annoying because it's right where you can see it. Thankfully I can sort of cover it up, so people won't be able to tell. And it's not an entirely bald patch.

Oh my, you're right. I'm receding like Jon. God help us all if I begin to get his crabby personality too!

I lost quite a bit of hair after my daughter was born and it took about 6 months for it to stop and return to normal levels. I think it just seemed like a lot when it was happening because I hadn't lost any hair at all when I was pregnant...I was sprouting hair everywhere! and thankfully that stopped too when my hormones finally returned to normal.
