I wonder which visa she'll be under....   since she plans on rotating between London, Italy, and Holywood...  3 whole months of a relationship!  Does she have British/EU citizenship rights and doesn't need one?

Or is she "special" because she's famous...

Oooh, I think I know- she's going under the entertainer visa- because she's "planning on getting a west end theatre job"

Oh how everyone in relationships here wish they were rich and famous, huh?

Ha! I saw the same thing about Mischa Barton earlier this week.  I was wondering about what visa she would be getting as well.  It's situations like this that make Americans believe that they can just up and move, it's just that easy!  ::)

I actually think Mischa Barton has either Irish or UK citizenship via her parents, or maybe it's just her mother?

Can't believe she's dating Matt Bellamy...I love the band but he's such a freaking weirdo.  Then again...maybe she's a weirdo too (although I always thought she seemed quite "normal").  I wonder if she will have to get a visa for Italy too?

Mischa Barton was actually born in London and I think one parent is Irish and the other English.

This. But I think it's called something else.  :-X :P

I think she is both British and Irish, as well as a naturalised American.

I always wonder about the visas when I see stories like this!  They must have crazy-high-paid lawyers that can find some 'in,' whether it's the entertainer visa, or what have you.

I saw Mischa Barton at a gig in Camden one time.  It wasn't very exciting, ha.

How annoying.  >:(

ETA: Maybe she's Tier 1 general since she'd meet the income guidelines and I think it's automatic if you make enough (even without a degree) or the Entrepreneur one or something...

Maybe it is Tier 1 general!  I thought about the entrepreneur one, but don't you have to invest all your money in a UK business or something?

We know too much about this..  ;D

Mischa Barton was born in Hammersmith to an Irish mother and a Mancunian father. She and her parents moved to the US when she was aged 6 and she was naturalized as a US citizen at the age of 20 and also retains her UK citizenship. So no visa needed.

Yes, we do!!! And I think the entrepreneur one is a min of £250,000. Chump change for her! She doesn't actually have to *run* the business.... lol

Ugh, how amazing would it be to have £250,000 to just throw at the government to be able to live where you want..

What about Kevin Spacey?  He's pretty cool!  :)

I was just reading the Making of Star Wars and Lucas talks about how the HO wouldn't allow Harrison Ford, Luke (what's his name?) and Carrie Fisher into the UK to work (old rules - don't even know them). His lawyer called them up and said that if they didn't have Visa's down to the studio by the next day he was pulling the project. He said officials were waiting at the gates the next morning.

He goes on to talk about the differences in British v. American work attitudes, not really disparaging the Brits, but he couldn't get over that at 4 o'clock everybody just dropped their stuff, no matter what was happening, and meandered off for tea and biscuits.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC
