Household Size Sponsor ?
« on: August 07, 2010, 09:57:27 AM »
I am posting here because I havent been able to get many answers to questions I post on VisaJourney.com.  Soon after my son is born, I plan to apply for DCF for my husband, so we can all go back to the US.  I will be using either my sister, or mother.  In regards to the I-864 and poverty guidelines, does the level of their income have to be what they currently hold in the household, or what it will be upon our arrival?

If we got with my mother, she lives alone.  It is my understanding she only has to show enough income for a household of 2, herself & my husband (the beneficiary).  I will not be including assets as she has none, this will be based on her income only. As far as I read you dont need to get into assets unless its less than the poverty level. As per the table on the USCIS site.  125% of poverty line for a household of 2 is 18,212, and even if she had to add myself & son a household of 4 is only 27,562.  We are planning to move in with my mother upon arrival to the US, so im just curious what she needs to put for size of household?

If I go with my sister, she is single and lives alone..and makes above the poverty level for a household of 2.

Also, I have recieved conflicting information from VisaJourney as far as to what forms to use for whom.  Some say if you are planning to live with your sponsor you have to use the I-864a, others say you use the I-864 as you dont live with them now. Does anyone have experience on this?
