Y'all are wonderful.  I just got a little choked up, as I appreciate the help so so much.

CB- You're amazing.  Thanks for looking that up!

Sarah- You know me, I'm always excited about shopping!  ;D And, I've slowed my coffee up lately- but I couldn't resist a cup at 4 after my run before work. Doh!  That's probably why I'm still up.

But, mmmmm Peet's is yummy.

He decided not to take the house, saying he thought it was out of the way, but I think he's waiting to choose something until we hear about my visa.  He looks at a house or a flat everyday, but I get the feeling he's dragging his feet.  The place is Horsforth he sees tomorrow looks gorgeous, but I really think we're going to end up waiting until my visa is issued.  Or we at least hear from the embassy.  I keep trying to keep myself positive.
I can understand wanting to lock in a place to live as soon as poss. But do you really need to? Wouldn't you like to wait until you get there so you could see these places in the flesh?
I'll probably end up back in Leeds in another year or two and, while I want DH to unload our current barn of a house and downsize, I really want to be able to see what's on the market.
And best of luck with the visa. Hang in there!

Yay!

...I really want to be able to see what's on the market.

My next door neighbour's house is for sale!  The one he never lived in.  (Inherited it, had it gutted & replumbed, rewired, new kitchen, new bath, etc...never decorated...then took up residence with his g/f, so never moved in or decorated.)  :)

I imagine it's much like ours:  cellar (ours isn't a finished cellar, we use it to store wine - not sure about his), ground floor is living room & big-ish eat-in-kitchen, first floor is two bedrooms in our case plus the bathroom/toilet, and then there's a loft (ours is partially finished - we use it for storage & our 'office' - computer & lotsa junk).  Very small garden to the front (with soil & grass right now).  Small paved garden to the back.  Allotments are nearby though if that's a desire.

Ours is the end terrace, so his is a middle terrace one, and these are that heavy Yorkshire stone (not brick back-to-back).  It went on the market a week or two ago, not sure if there's any interest yet.

I'll see if I can find the link from his estate agent & PM it to you.  I think he wants more than I would pay, but then I'm Yorkshire ;).  Flats across the street have been on the market awhile & aren't selling, so I think he'll have to come down in price too probably.  Good area though.

Thanks ladies.  I'm concerned because I didn't provide bank statements showing I had enough money for a plane ticket- as I was told that it was all included in my student loan package.

You don't need any information about your plane ticket, just the school and living expenses. Hopefully they'll email you soon *fingers crossed*

I know it's horrible and stressful and awful, but don't ruin your last days in the US worrying about your visa, go eat Mexican food and spend time with your family, enjoy yourself because that visa will come and you will go (to the ball!) :)

Agree!  ;D
