haha
We have a British shop in Atlantic City (area) and my mom LOVES chocolate and she got a bar but it was milk and she said it was ok...
Since I am not a chocolate lover I don't know what is best.
I am thinking of bringing a few bars of good chocolate back (dark) for my mom...
Suggestions?
I might be slapped for blasphemy, but don't waste money on Cadbury's dark chocolate. It actually has a lower cocoa content than, for example, German supermarket milk chocolates like Ritter Sport or Milka. Even store brand dark chocolate here in the UK has a higher cocoa content. (I discovered this when I wanted some dark chocolate for a recipe, and was minutes away from purchasing a Cadbury Bourneville bar. Then I read the ingredients!) Maybe try Green and Blacks? I'd personally recommend Lindt but I know it's hardly local, and it's readily available in the US.
(btw, I'm not a fan of Hershey's either, so my comments re: Cadbury's aren't meant to suggest I prefer US chocolate. If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick Cadbury's, and hope it was a Fruit and Nut bar on offer!

)
For chocolate bars here, I discovered Nestle Lion bars at the local market. They are lovely! They seem to be considered a bit old-fashioned, but if you haven't tried one, and like crunchy, caramel-y things, I highly recommend them.
As for US candy, I pine for Sour Patch Kids.
