I know I haven't been on here for ages, but life has absorbed my attention, for which I apologise.
Anyways, I got my letter today saying that my application for Citizenship has been accepted. While that might sound like a common occurrence, I had a bit of a scare. After about a month of my application being in, I got a letter back from UKBA stating that I had to provide more information about my criminal background. For anyone that remembers, I had a situation that occurred over 5 years ago that resulted in two years probation. Even though it was considered spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, I had disclosed it every previous application with Home Office. So while I wasn't required to disclose it, I decided to disclose it so that they didn't feel that I was hiding anything. Anyways, when I received the letter from UKBA my heart sunk, especially because it suggested that I might not meet the good character requirements.
Anyways, I wrote back, supplied all the documentation I had, provided full background about my offence but explained that my understanding was that under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, it was spent and therefore it couldn't be considered.
So no matter what happened, it appears they have decided to see things my way and have granted me Citizenship. I can't wait to go through the ceremony and go get my passport. I am so happy and excited to be a UK Citizen.
Best of luck to all those others who are on the same path!
