I've just returned from a fantastic 4 day break in the Orkney Islands where I had a lot of fun gorging myself on Orkney Ales - especially Dark Island. I managed to refrain from the SkullSplitter, with exception of a half pint one evening.

Welcome back!
My fave Orkney Brewery beers are Northern Light and Skullsplitter.  But also from Orkney, I *LOVE* the incredible Orkney Blast from Highland Brewing.

Oooooo I love me some Dark Island! I got it on tap every time I went to Tennent's on Byres Road! My liquor store here actually carries it by the bottle, and while not totally the same, I am still a very happy lady.  :)

Tried the Southern Tier Pumking this afternoon. I've never had it before and it was absolutely delicious! Will be seeking it out at my local liquor store immediately.

20 of us had a fab day yesterday up at Fyne Ales brewery... we sat outside in the misty sunshine, watching the swallows flitting back and forth feeding their chicks, playing with the brewery's black cocker spaniel, and quaffing pints of Avalanche, Jarl, Cloud Burst, and the brand new one, Zombier (6.9%).

We also had a CAMRA branch meeting, and then a barbecue of venison burgers and sausages, plus deep-filled Highland beef steak pies.

Woohoo!
A 20-litre barrel of Vierzehnheilegen Silberbock has materialised at my friend's house, and we're going to pay our respect to it on the 29th.

Heard this on Radio 4 this morning - about new microbreweries opening up. Although Wales specific in the article, this can only be a good thing.

I bought a six pack of Woodchuck Pumpkin Cider last night. It was okay. Kind of a weird aftertaste and not as pumpkin-y as I'd've hoped.

Well, this is what happens when you leave the seeds and the stringy stuff in.

Orkney Blast in the Bon. Resistance is futile.

Went to the Black Isle Brewery today and got some 'Red Hot Chilli Bock' which is Tim Anderson's small batch brew (that American due who won MasterChef)- 7.0 % abv and an absolutely gorgeous brew!  Dark, spicy, lovely.  I had bottle 717 of 864 (330 ml) - Yummy!
