Sounds good PB!

We were really busy this weekend, so didn't have much beer.  We had the Orkney Blast (Highland 6%) that i mentioned on Friday night.  Then on Saturday we had Axe Edge (Buxton 6.8%) which i was expecting to be of the sharp citrusy variety that HB really loves, but actually it had a really soft finish and was brilliant.

We have a 750ml bottle of LaChouffe in the fridge (8.5%) which is taunting me... I hope we drink that soon.  That's one to share, so i have to wait till HB is in the mood for it too.

Somebody...please!!!

Promise me that you will have a pint of CLOWN POISON for me!!!
(if you only knew how much i hate freakin clowns!)

Apparently Abbeydale have this special beer, for October only, called Clown Poison, and in addition to being a big fan of Abbeydale's beers, I completely love the name of this brew!  I reckon it's unlikely we will get any up here, but I am counting on you all, particularly the North of Englanders, to find this for me and try some... and report back, of course!  ;)

ETA:  OMG, i just remembered we will be in Manchester, Huddersfield and Stockport in a couple of weeks, so the chances of getting this beer have just improved dramatically!!!  ;D

so excited about Clown Poison, I forgot to mention that we had a couple of excellent pints of Magic Rock High Wire (5.5%) tonight.

I'll look out for it. Pretty sure I saw one of the pubs I "like" on Facebook put that they had it on but don't remember where!
I'm more likely to see it if I go to Sheffield and don't think there's any plans to. Maybe the Nottingham beer fest will have it on in a few weeks!

p.s. I'm with you on clowns!

Did you Google it?
At 4.4% it's probably not lethal enough to KILL the bastarn things, but... anything's worth a try.

I did.  I will be in England for a few various weeks in October/November so I will need to keep an eye out for it.

Out on a school night last night... oh dear.  :(

The Summer Wine 'Shackled' was vile.  Really awful and medicinal... nasty stuff.

Tempest 'White Light' was ok... nothing special, but quite drinkable.

Williams Bros 'Birds and Bees'...at first taste, very thin and insipid... then just as you're about to swallow... a big biscuity bang which i really liked.  I probably wouldn't seek it out, but of the 3 casks on in this pub, it was the best.

I was happily enjoying a bit too much of Thrappledouser, Rucking Mole, and Red Rocket beer last evening!

I never buy a beer just for it's name, but tonight in Sainsburys I bought a bottle of '99 Red Baboons'... the name just cracked me up!  ;D
(it also helped that it was marked down to £1 a bottle!)

Not drunk the Baboons yet!

We are in Manchester on holiday, in our 4th or 5th pub of the day... The Marble Arch, drinking Lagonda and Dobber, and getting set to have Physics (7%) as our final pint of the night. Tomorrow we are off to Huddersfield and the excellent pubs there... The Grove; Head of Steam, Rat and Ratchet...

The Grove is an excellent pub, my fave in Huddersfield, recommend the Kings Head over the Head of Steam (other side of the station), and also check out The Sportsman.....left after the hotel opposite station,, and it's just other side of the railway bridge.
There is also a "beer shop" called HDM (Hand Drawn Monkey) near station that has some beers on tap. I've not been in their yet.

Not saying I don't like Head of Steam, usually meet up in there if going out in Huddersfield and also handy for catching the last train (my train goes from the platform just next to it!)
Just that the King's Head is often overlooked so if you'd not been before (which clearly you have!) I just wanted to point it out.

I've been a bit so-so on last couple of visits to HoS, one of my fave beers is Copper Dragon Golden Pippin....absolutely amazing yet in there it just didn't quite taste right, not off, not bad  but just didn't have the usual "mmmmmmmmmmmm Golden Pippin" that I normally get!

We are going to the Nottingham beer festival on Friday!  ;D
