so angry at neighbours!
« on: August 22, 2010, 11:03:03 PM »
so our immediate neighbours are not cat people. I get that not everyone is. We have 2 cats, 1 3 year old neutered male who goes outside, and 1 16 week male kitten that does not yet because he's not been fixed and he's just too little. there are between 10 and 12 other cats on our cul-de-sac, all out doors, some neutered, others not.

The neighbours ended up installing one of those mosquito things to repel cats, but they set the scope too wide and the thing went off every time Loki (our cat) came up our drive. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to start anything with them, but this really ticked me off as it affected Loki's ability to come and go from our house (i could hear it so I knew when it was going off.) I don't know who or what did it, but it broke shortly after it went up.

that was a while ago, and I thought nothing more of the whole thing until today. The kitten got out and Loki and I spent about half an hour trying to get him back in during which time the neighbour is out and the kitten has run under his van. He comes flying around yelling at the kitten to get away (making the whole situation worse) and sees me and says "i don't want it pissing on the wheels" I just look at him and say, "he's too young for that, and besides, ours are neutered, they won't do that" he grunts and walks away.

Then his father comes out and asks me if everything is ok because I'm looking under their cars, and I tell him I've lost a kitten and his response is "Don't you have enough?" WTF? he only knows about Loki! and who the hell is he to comment on how many cats I have? I am a responsible pet owner, my cat has been fixed so he doesn't spray and he comes in at 9:30 every night so he doesn't keep people up at night. He is the good one of the neighbourhood and this guy has the nerve to comment on me having more than one cat?

It has pissed me right off, maybe it's the hormones or I don't know but I was so angry at his comment I was in tears. Am I wrong to be so upset over this idiot's comment? The whole thing makes me wish it was my cat spraying their cars.

No, you're not wrong. I'd be furious. But then I'm a cat person too, so maybe I'm extra sensitive to comments like that. Still, I'm pretty sure I'd be fuming.  >:(

What is the mosquito thing you're talking about to repel cats? I don't think I eve know what that is.

Atleast I'm not overreacting. Thank you. It just bugs me that we get blamed for the other cats.

It is based on the one shops are using to keep youths from hanging out outside their shop. It has a motion detector that emits a loud high-pitched squeal that is supposed to be uncomfortable to younger people and cats. Older people (over 25 or something) aren't supposed to hear it, but it is just one of the frequencies I can hear.
