I'm beginning to think some don't want us here.....
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

For the record, I'm not blaming language schools, I agree with you that it's been made a scapegoat and is the government's fault for sucking. I was just saying that probably a lot of non-degree students are here to learn English.

I know you weren't, I was just having a general rant; people tend to assume that language school students aren't proper students because they don't do a degree.  But as anyone who's ever learned a foreign language knows, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to become fluent.  Our students have six lessons a day, plus homework.  They work as hard as any degree students, harder than some.  It just cheeses me off when people judge them with no knowledge of what they are actually like.

How can you get a visa at an English-teaching school? Didn't they change the law to add and english proficiency requirement for Student Visas?

That's what I thought as well?

"Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand." - Carl Sagan
