I met my chris in a bar.  I was studying abroad in England (where I have never left.. besides the odd visit home). 

I met DH in a club in Key West, Florida, where he was an illegal alien. I was there for the weekend but liked it (and him) so much I stayed. I married him after a year to keep him from being deported!
For those of you who haven't been there, Key West is packed with British expats. Every so often the INS vans from Miami come down and cruise around raiding restaurants and bars. You can tell when the INS is in town because the service goes to s**t!
Anyway, we have been married for 13 years now, no regrets. 10 in the US and three (and a half!) here.

i made a mistake. Since DB and I don't talk on the phone because we can't afford that right now, and I havn't been there yet his parents don't know my information yet and couldn't get ahold of me as he's been in the hospital and at home w/ home care. His parents have been taking good care of him and the kitties. I feel bad thinking he would just STOP talking to me out of nowhere. I definately think the depression(don't worry) was what kicked that thought into my head. I was also worried that something had happend and look it turned out to be that..
oh and July 14th was a year!

We met online in a MUD.  I guess he had noticed me weeks before and found out what he could about me before he made his move.  That was early 2001.  We talked online for a week or so, and he came here in summer 2001.  We married in the fall, and finally I have settlement.  He had a really crap lawyer tell him he should be making at least 20,000 lbs a year before we put the application in as I would likely not be seen as able to earn money in the UK (on disability due to a neurological problem).  I wish we had found this forum (or something like it) years ago.

Anyway, I usually just tell people we met online.  Explaining that we played a game where our characters used to go out and slay giant serpents together is a bit too weird to explain. 

I met Sarah on myspace..

I was just looking thru an air cooled volkswagen group and saw her page on it... so I clicked it and saw how beautiful she was and how perfect she was for me. I messaged her with "youre beautiful, so is your car" -- sounds pretty pathetic haha. we messaged for a couple days and started talking on the phone after that, every day.

after 3 weeks of talking she called me at a travel agents and said she was buying plane tickets, so after 5 weeks of talking, i was picking her up from the airport.

I just got back from London on the 1st, and she gets here on august 2nd for a month )

i love her so much and KNOW shes the one, I cant wait to move to england to be with her.

well it began on the internet... and i can tell you how it ended too.. he just stopped talking to me..

well at the time i wrote that 11 months.. as i said in a previous post i had made a mistake and he has been in and out of the hospital for 3 months..  Nobody had contacted me about it. So i just thought he had found sombody closer and didn't tell me so. Things are good, still together. was a year on the 14th.

i can't afford to take holiday right now, and he really can't w/ just gettin out of the hospital.

aww Vicki so he really didn't stop talking to you he was just in the hospital and you are still together...that is great to hear...l am happy for you

Vicki, I'm glad things weren't what you thought and I hope he's okay.  It sucks that you went all that time thinking things were over and he was really in the hospital.  That's why I've told my guy to let someone close to him know how to contact me in case something happens to him.  It's hard being far away....
