Re-Introduction... Maine to East Midlands, 5 years later....
« on: September 15, 2010, 10:01:08 PM »
Just wanted to pop my head in again.  Found myself coming back to the forum for some useful advice for my 3 month old son as just registered his birth at the US embassy last week.  Just when I thought all my paperwork was over I've started again!!  :\\\'( :\\\'(

I moved from Maine to East Midlands 5 yrs ago and love it here, although I love visiting home as well.  I really love England, but eventually some day dh and I hope to move back to Maine and open our own business, but for now, I'm an accountant on maternity leave!!

Welcome back! My parents live in Maine ( Sanford, next to the Kennebunks ) and I just spent the last three weekends there.. It really is a beautiful state. We are going back up in a few weeks when the fresh venison goes onsale and I am going to sneak a trip in to the outlets before I leave for Northern Ireland!
Patiently waiting for visas!

I love the outlets!!! we're going to visit next week and that is usually the top of my list of things to do!!  Although I'm dreading flying with my 3mo son on my own as hubby is on a course and staying in england.

Thanks for the welcome backs!

I know the Sanford area -- my family's been going to Wells Beach for generations. My ggfather was from Otisfield. Love Renny's!
Where are you going in N. Ireland, mrscolgan?

Hi BostonDiner! We are going to Warrenpoint where my husband grew up. I can't wait! I have been going over for about 6 weeks every year for the last 5 and really love it there. It is so beautiful and the weather really suits me too. I hate the heat here and the snow is only nice for the first foot and then gets very much on my nerves! Renny's is great but I LOVE Mardens in Sanford. The clothes are so inexpensive there and really good brands. Not to mention all the other stuff you can get there! I may have to go on the weekend now!

Warrenport's Co. Down, right? My grandparents came from Co. Tyrone: Fivemiletown and Bready.
Agreed, Marden's is great too.

yep, Co. Down it is....My g.parents are from Galway and Connemara. It seems like a lot of the Boston Irish are from around that way...Tyrone is a beautiful place too. Can't really say there are any places that are not scenic over there.

Gee, haven't heard that one -- but I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic. If they do, they'll probably disguise it under another name.
