Tried that :( They all seem to go up to a UK 18.

I'm not sure what size you'd need but, if it helps, I did a quick look and Berghaus, North Face and Gore-Tex all go up to a 20.

Yes, chary is right - the Berghaus (UK) website brings up 2 waterproof jackets for women up to a UK 20.

And North Face - 4 in XXL, quite a few in XL - although their website isn't especially clear in the sense that it gives measurements, rather than sizes (18, 20, etc), as the numbers for what constitutes XL or XXL.  (They don't seem to show a chart for the XXL at all.)  The measurements are probably more helpful, but I don't have any idea what they correspond to in terms of 'standard' sizing.

(However, Gore-Tex itself is the actual trademarked waterproof/breathable fabric, from which lines such as Berghaus, North Face, etc garments are constructed.)

I had an impossible time finding waterproof trousers over a UK 18 here - if anyone can spot them on t'internet, let me know!

I don't know this brand so I don't know if it's any good, but they go up to a UK 20: http://www.mikedaviesleisure.co.uk/product.aspx?productid=2737

Thanks!  :)  I actually need bigger than that.  :-[

They are nylon, so I reckon the price would be about right for that, maybe a bit on the low end.  It's not the same level of gear as Gore-Tex, for which you'd pay a lot more.

Yeah, the price made me wonder how waterproof they might actually be!

Yeah, the price made me wonder how waterproof they might actually be!

They're probably coated with something to make them waterproof - nylon has to be coated with something as it's not waterproof in itself.  For that price, it will be the minimum.  Most Gore-Tex trousers are nylon inside, with the Gore-Tex shell/membrane on the outside.  (There are other similar high-tech finishes besides GT - it's just considered the standard one.)

I was just looking at Cabelas again & salivating over waterproof jackets & trousers, like I need to get more.  How sad am I!  :P

Is this worth a punt for £9?

http://www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Curve-Festival-Packa-Poncho/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1047361&cid=10528&sh=0&pge=1&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Navy

If nothing else, it's something you can pack in your bag for the unexpected showers :) They have a size 20 available and would do you until you get something better.

Might be worth having a look at http://www.blacks.co.uk/  there's lots of things in an XL, but who knows what that could mean! :)

Regatta do ladies clothing up to a 22, so you could get something like this, it has that isotek 5000 stuff :) - http://www.regatta.com/product-detail.asp?pn=RWP026

This doesn't have a hood but is totally cute - http://www.regatta.com/product-detail.asp?pn=RWW047

Have you tried Cotton Traders or Central Wool Growers (if you have one near you)?

Cotton Traders have a cheap, long, packaway raincoat:  http://www.cottontraders.co.uk/waterproof-coat/invt/ad10441/&bklist=icat,2, for £15.   ;)

Just a tip - I have a Berghaus jacket and I HATE it. I've learned my lesson to always pull the hood up when trying on a rain coat. The hood of my jacket is too short, so my face is exposed to the elements, making it basically useless. I promise I don't have a freakishly bulbish head or anything. I spent decent money on the jacket too, so it's really annoying that I don't wear it.

Ha ha!  The hood of my Cabelas jacket, and also a raincoat that I got from LL Bean (or was it Lands End?  they both blur together in my mind) - the hoods on both those coats are HUGE!  They must think because people are big, they also have big giant heads!

I can adjust the Cabelas one, using a Velcro thing & the toggles.  Even so, when we were walking in the rain a week ago, it kept flopping down over my eyes.  ::)

I had big hair back in the 80s, along with everyone else.  But my hair started to look so much like a poodle's, that I had to go back to natural long, straight & flat.  :P

Lands End!
Since I'm super fat, they carry things in my size and I can order in US sizes, so I actually know what I'm getting.

Other than that, our plus size clothes selection around here sucks.

Hi my dear
I ordered mine off amazon- I'm not sure if they're mens sized or not, but I got really huge ones for my super fatness there - and they work fantastic

I haven't ordered clothes from Land's End UK, but I've ordered shoes several times. They're great! The shoes, but also the company. Good customer service, etc.
