On spousal Visa traveling back to US for wedding
« on: October 04, 2010, 02:32:00 PM »
Hi all,

I have done several searches in the archives-but I suppose my search is just way too specific-so apologies if it was in plain sight and I missed it!

I am an American married to my British husband. I am on a 2 year spousal visa which will be up in January (I will be doing the ILR process).

In the meantime-my son is getting married in Alaska (surprise!). So-hubby and I want to fly out to Alaska for a week.

It has just dawned on me that there may be some special process or something I need to know about traveling with my Spousal Visa/approved Passport.

Married for two years
Living in the UK with husband
Travel to US with hubby in November for 1 week.

Any hidden issues/problems (besides a surprise wedding of my son's AND grandbaby on the way! LOL) ;D

Thanks for your time,

T

I've traveled back and forth on my spousal visa with no problems-don't have to register or anything, and no one gave me any trouble. (Well, except for the inevitable "You're from California? why have you moved to Manchester!?" at the airport). I don't know if you'll have an issue when you are close to your expiry date, but someone else will be along to let you know!

LOL! Jenny-the "WHY did you come HERE from California??" *Gasp* That is hilarious-I get that so often! They cannot believe that I adore the weather and small town of it all!

Thanks so much for posting-I really do appreciate it. It is pretty reassuring to be able to connect with those that can relate!

Cheers from one Cali-girl to the other!

I know! I usually explain that you know, true love and all, but that I don't really mind the weather. (It was 113! And it was 55 in Manchester. I would MUCH RATHER be in 55 degree weather.)

Now that I'm going out into the great big world, I'm getting a lot of that, too. I tell them that familiarity breeds contempt.

Yeap, I lived in Miami before moving here and no one can contemplate why 1.) I moved here in the first place and 2.) I LOVE it here (especially compared to Miami)

Small town, the music scene here!, the lovely pubs, friendly faces, sheep, highland cows, open space, sheep, distilleries, sheep, highland cows, mountains/scenery/etc, sheep...

Yes on the bike and foot traffic too! I REALLY do appreciate that you need to hoof it to get to many places. It really does cause one to get "out there". Being in our cars in the US-often for hours a day and then using parking lots to shop--you can go a LONG time without even really saying hello to anyone.

Little things..mean a lot!
