Definitely love KK donuts...especially when the HOT NOW light is on.  The problem is there used to be a bunch in the Boston area, but they all closed down within a couple of years of opening.  Oh well.  Wasn't meant to be, so I'll have to stick with DD's instead. I usually go for their coffee and only a donut sometimes.   Good thing, too...or my pants would HATE me!  LOL   ;)

We have a big KK right next to my supermarket in Manchester, but I never have the donuts, they are way too expensive imo!!

I used to live in Louisiana and we had Southern Maid donuts. They were exactly like KK but, somehow, they didn't take off when KK did. Shame as they're equally scrumptious!

I've been laughing my way through this thread!  I knew I couldn't be the only KK crazy person.  Thanks everyone.

Cadenza, I love the picture!  :D

Chary, I forgot about Lousiana.  In my mind you're a New Englander.  Clearly you have other dimensions... :)

Gottagettolondon, I'm not originally from Atlanta but I lived there for 15 years before moving to the UK.  For several years I lived in L5P and also for a while in an apartment on Ponce, so the Ponce Krispy Kreme is the "real" one to me.  ;D

Ooh! L5P is great! Of course, at 36 now, I'm too old to live there. :P We've been going to the KK on Ponce since forever. It is always the special treat after going to see something at the Fox Theatre. I love how everyone goes at like 1am after a show all dressed up to eat doughnuts and have coffee! :) Really glad I won't have to miss KK once I move to London (hear that optimism? lol)

I'm curious to try Krispy Kremes these, but they look very different than Canadian doughnuts.

I miss my Tim Horton's, which you can weirdly sometimes find in Spars in UK airports (and Spars are Dutch!  ??? :P).

Generally, I only like them when they're hot, and really only the glazed ones -- although this mention of lemon meringue has me intrigued.  I might have to investigate tomorrow.  Field research, and all.  In general, I'm definitely more of a Dunkin Donuts fan(atic).  When I'm back in the US, it is my goal to hit DD once a day, although mainly for coffee and not always donuts.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I myself am a KK fan as well I love the glazed doughnut even more heavenly if there hot!!  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]  When Dh & I are in the States we always go to the local doughnut shop everyday for an Apple Fritter.  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]   Dh will even have one for breakfast for the first week then afterwards he says he is apple frittered out lol.  ::)  :P

Another KK fan...they are rediculously expensive though- but I still treat myself to one when I am near one- which is cheshire oaks or trafford centre usually, so it is when I am already having a treaty shopping day. Although I prefer the ones from the actual shops vs kiosk-- and the hot ones are heavenly.

I've found apple fritters at my local starbucks.  I go in every now and again for a taste of home.

How are they?  I've seen them at my Starbucks, too, and have been too scared to try, lest i get a mouthful of disappointment.

You can make your own apple fritters if you're really craving them!

I do crave them but if I know how to make them that would be seriously bad for my diet lol. ;)  :)  I think I crave them more now because I know they are part of my vacation so its something to look forward too as well. also I don't think I could make them as good as my local doughnut shop back home though they put this light orange glaze on top of them which makes them oohh sooo good but oohh sooo bad for you lol.  ;)  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]  but thanks anyways Chary for the suggestion.  ;)  :)

My great-grandma used to work at Southern Maid donuts.  [smiley=heart.gif] Love them. There is a location in my hometown in Texas (well, probably a few of them around Dallas, but there's a really old shop - the one my great gran worked at - over by my parents' house in the 'burbs.)

LOOOOVE KK Donuts! Was over the moon to see the sign at Heathrow and had to scran a few donuts before we made the trip back to the states.  :) Dang, now I really want one!  :\\\'(

The fritters weren't too bad--we aren't coffee drinkers either, so I don't go often.  I just noticed them when we went with a group of coworkers one day.  I'll go a few times a year and get a hot chocolate or a fruit drink with it now.
