Andee,
If you clicked hide person status they will still see yours, I believe ;-)

Also as a person who does hiring for a company yep I checked out myspace (back when it was cool) and FB before hiring you. 1. to see if you knew anyone I did so I could ask about you 2. to just get a general feel

I do know probation officers in Texas will use FB to see if people who are not suppose to be in bars or drinking are there in pictures...This is why it is so important to get a lock down on your stuff ;-)

Friend:  OMG I might be getting a cell phone today!
Sister (in comments): cool my number is [insert her mobile number for the whole freakin' world to see].
The amount of people I see post their phone numbers is unbelievable! Facebook also has a "phonebook" so you may want to check that to see if her number is in it.

I don't have a problem with the phone book option as everyone on my FB could call me...They are friends/family and should have my number anyway...Now young kids who just add people to get a high number of friends - that is crazy

I love Facebook, but I do have a few things I dislike:

-when I ignore a friend request, and they friend request me again...and again!
-I feel guilty if I don't accept a "hug" or "good karma".
-I feel bad when married couples have to announce their divorce via the relationship status feature. There's no private way of removing/changing your status!
-I don't like when people write on my wall (which I have since removed) to make plans...I would feel bad if someone else saw it and felt left out.
-I don't like when people take FB too seriously.
-I think it's unfortunate that friendships sometimes end between people because of FB...
-And I agree with so many other people's comments regarding this post as well :)

As far as privately removing your relationship status, you can fix your settings so it doesn't show up in your feed when you change it.  Or you could just not list it.

-I

I noticed the other day when I hit decline a request, it comes up as "Request hidden. Take action later on the Requests page", so im guessing now, they cant add you again, until you go on the requests page and decline them again on that section

Just block them...that way they cannot see you or find you on facebook again to be able to send another request.

Facebook has it's good and bad points I think.  Yes the constant I'm here now I'm here now I'm here updates from a couple of high school friends annoy me.  It's been a great way for me to reconnect with people I'd lost touch with though.  It's also a good way to keep my Mom feeling in the loop with what Jean is up to.

That said, I have had to delete three people I used to know because of their political rantings of an extreme right-wing nature.  Plus I've had the fun of being friends requested by the nutter woman who gave birth to me, whom I last had contact with in 1998 or so after she tracked me down by private investigator.  Declined her twice then eventually blocked her.

I used to, but not anymore--I hide all those "games" now.  I get the feeling that people who do those just send good karma and hugs to everyone indiscriminately.

This is my biggest fear. I'm friends with my half sisters that I've never met but I don't want to have anything to do with our incubator. I'm happy with my life the way it is, I don't need or want her in my life. Sorry that you've had to deal with all of that.

Incubator... I may just steal that one Weby.  Yeah it was a shock when the 1st request came through then it was annoying.

Andee I block all those games too, I don't care about my friends virtual farms but I still want to hear if they've had the baby yet or that their hubby is home from Iraq.

That's because you're no longer declining their request to be friends, you're ignoring it. Unless you go block them and/or decline their request they'll be following you but you won't be following them. They won't see anything you make "private" but anything that's public will show up in their timeline.

Except, it might not because of the update ranking. Have you guys read this? Even in the "most recent" setting you don't see all of your friends, just the most popular ones. And regular status updates are less likely to show up than links and pictures.  Basically it's all the reasons why I prefer twitter.

Thanks for that link...interesting reading. I've always wondered why stuff doesn't seem to show up with any predictabele pattern. I imagine few of my updates show up on people's pages because I'm not a big participant. Oh well.

I really hate it when people post horrible pictures of me or other friends! I'm not being vain here (honest!). I'm talking about ridiculously ugly unexpected photos here! The ones where you get caught sneezing, blinking, or crossing your eyes etc... I especially hate the after party pictures! The ones where at the beginning of the night you look like this  [smiley=gorgeous.gif] but the only photos that get posted show you looking more like this  [smiley=mad.gif]

Agreed. Bringing back junior high pictures or pics of times that might not have been happy in a persons life are not fun. I do like the fact you can remove a tag from a pic though!

Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.  A. Lincoln
