John Stewart...Rally to Restore Sanity, and/or Fear
« on: October 30, 2010, 04:15:23 PM »
I am just hearing of this weird!
I have an employee who said he was off to DC for a rally and I thought Bike rally but my dad emailed me last night and his long time g/f is there (traveled from Oregon)...
http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2010/10/30/Thousands-in-DC-for-Jon-Stewart-rally/UPI-53461288450419/

I think it should be interesting but then again I like John Stewart and Bill Maher (I know 2 different things) but they are fun for me ;-)

Anyone else read up on this? I dont have time today but can't wait to hear about it

He announced it about a month ago on his show. This week the Daily Show has taken place in DC in the run up to the rally and he had President Obama on as a guest one night. I have a bunch of friends in the DC/Baltimore area who are going. I'm sad I'm not there to go to it.  :(

Yeah, I really wanted to go (I'm close to DC) but taking the kids was not an option. So I've got it on TV now. The Guardian is live blogging about it, and you can watch it online, too.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Actually, comedycentral.com is streaming it and it's a really good feed. Better than the Post!

Some of the supporting stuff is a bit meh, but Stewart and Colbert are great!

Hope they drag Glen Beck out and toss him in the reflection pond....

I wish he would have done his Glen Beck impression. It's my favorite!  ;D

I wish I could have gone.  I've been watching some of it on CNN and enjoyed it.

Although a little ironic that Ozzy Osbourne was at the Rally to Restore Sanity!

Watching a rally on tv is sort of pointless.  It is all about the energy of the crowd, except for the main speakers, I really liked Stewart's speech, but the supporting acts are always sort of blah.

Oh, we enjoyed watching it though obviously would prefer to have been there! The non-musical acts were fun (Mythbusters are HUGE in our househould ;) ), and we had a great time with the awards. I especially appreciated the effort they went to to highlight different ways someone could be reasonable: with an apology, with courtesy, with grace in the face of a mistake.
