Housing/sponsor letter wording?
« on: November 02, 2010, 03:36:05 PM »
Hi,

We're trying to get stuff together so we can file my visa application in a few weeks.  We know we need to have a letter from his mom giving permission for us to live there, my fiance and his mom are slightly freaked about what the letter needs to say.

Is something like this sufficient?

' To the Entry Clearance Officer,

As the owner and occupant of the house located at [address], I give my permission for N1 and N2 to reside here as long as necessary.  The house is approximately x m2 in size and has 3 double bedrooms, providing adequate space for three adult occupants.

N1 and N2 will contribute £x per month toward household expenses.'

Is this basically all it needs, or am I missing something important?  Does the letter signed by his mom need to be notarized as well?  Also, exactly what should we send along to prove ownership of the house?

Your letter looks fine except the room sizes need to be in square feet not meters square. It just needs to be signed and not notarised.

What you need to go with it is either the most recent mortgage statement, the deed to the residence or download & print off the property information from the Land Registry website for a small fee .
