Remembrance Day Poppies

Well, I hope it dies out only because there are no more veterans and no more wars ...

Amen to that!! 

I knit a poppy last year and it was really easy. This year one of my classmates was giving me a hard time about making my own instead of buying one because the point is to donate money. I told him I'm perfectly capable of donating a couple of quid without contributing to landfills. It was, I think, 95% taking the piss and 5% actual complaint, but it still made me feel self-conscious. Mind you, he didn't wear a poppy at all so to him.

The thing is you may be an honorable person who would donate anyway but, and I hate to say it, I guess there will be others who if they have a permanent poppy would just get it out every year without donating.  Okay so they are showing support but the British Legion needs hard cash as well as moral support!
