I love cream of wheat!  A while back I bought some semolina but haven't used it yet.  Think tomorrow morning I will.
I'm probably the only one on the planet that likes their cream of wheat lumpy.   :-[

Andee, what is 'a bit of mile' ?
Huh?!  That was some typo!  Meant to say "a bit of milk"!  :D

You were right!

Red5--don't mind lumpy, just not rough, so that's why I said get "fine" semolina.  Mine turned out a bit lumpy today since I took my eye of off the pot!  :)

Oh I didn't mean to call attention to a typo - sorry!  I thought maybe it was some kind of new health food store sweetener or something - lol, like agave, etc.  :P :)

Yes!!  Eating some right now--it's just as I remember!  Fine semolina--I think course would be too texturized.  Got it at an Asian market.  Made it with water (milk is good too, but a bit more calorific) put a pinch of sugar and stirred in a bit of mile--yummy!  :)

Excellent! I'm even more excited to have our own place now! :D

Nice one. I'll see if I can find it. Which market did you get it at? I keep thinking I've seen semolina in Sainsburys before. I know I've seen it before, I can't imagine it's hard to get.

Thanks guys.

Well I happened to be near Manchester visiting my Mil, so got it at the Asian market in Bury.

We normally go to the Asian markets in Bradford (there are a few) and I'm almost sure I've seen it there as well.  The big ASDA in Pudsey has a big Asian section, so they may have it as well.

My mother made cream of wheat for us when we were kids and this thread has made me nostalgic. I'm going to have to track some down for winter.

How does everyone like it? As a kid, I loved it with a bit a milk, a knob of butter, some cinnamon and raisins.  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

As a kid I never worried about fat, calories, or sugar so I had it make with milk and loads of white sugar stirred in!

Nowadays, made with water, a little milk stirred in and a pinch of sugar, or raisins.

There's a couple Asian markets in Leeds city centre too - one next to/around Millie's, I think?  I'll have to ask DH because he's the one who usually goes, but also I think I went to it once with SWB.

The one next to Millie's is Chinese (and some Japanese, etc.)  They've got really different stuff than the Asian (Indian / Pakistani) markets that I've seen.  More like noodles, miso, dried fishies, soy sauce, etc etc.  Don't think they've got semolina.

The one time I went with SWB, I was surprised at the variety of stuff they had in there!  They even had Jif (or was it Skippy) peanut butter?!  And also, I think, some other American products.  I think it has Thai & Korean as well.

I've got a bag of semolina here from Sainsburys. I use it to make bakewell bars. It's over by the rice, usually.  :) I wonder if anything here is like Malt O Meal? I always liked that better than Cream of Wheat.
