Greetings
« on: November 15, 2010, 04:03:32 PM »
Hi all,

I am originally from New Orleans but have lived in the UK for nearly 15 years. How I got here is a story for another time; I simply want to connect with other Americans in this country just to ease the homesickness I've felt for a very long time.

I have two wonderful children, aged 17 and 11, and enjoy reading, movies, classic rock music, writing, online games, blogging, fitness/aerobics and much more.

I'm so glad I found this place and I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Take care!

Carol

Welcome, Carol.

There are quite a few of us in Leeds. You're in good company.
There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared:  twins.

Welcome to the UKY Caeleyn.....I am basically a newbie to the UK as only been here since March this year and married since May...I hear ya about the homesickness as it has been tremendous for me right now....sometimes I feel like I am gettin to "old" to start over but sometimes life throws you a curve ball or someone comes into your life and gives it all a new meaning.......I am originally from Boise Idaho, have 4 grown kids, 11 grandkids and 2 great grandsons.....I miss my family but it was also time for me to move on in my life.....one day I will write more about me when I feel it is the right time.  Anyway my husband and I live in Tunbridge Wells right now but planning to find a more suitable place to move in the new year...been looking in the southwest but you never know.....also going to start driving as soon as I get my provisional as my husband has already been in 2 accidents in the last 2 weeks and to tell you the truth he scares the hell out of me now....he has MS and I think it is affecting his driving so maybe time for him to give it up? or at least if I was driving it would give him a much needed break especially on long distance drives which we have to do once in a while as he is associated with the South East Eventers League and has been for the last 15 years.....well if you ever need to talk I am here and I am a very good listener.....I also have a soft spot for people who need help...anyway maybe sometime in my ventures I will finally meet some of the good people of the forum...they in my opinion are wonderful, good hearted people....sorry I got carried away here!!!!

Thank you so much for the welcomes!

It feels really good to be in the company of my fellow Americans, after feeling displaced for so long. Good to hear that there are several of you in Leeds, too. :)

Snowlass, thanks for the offer to listen! Same goes for you! I admire you for taking on driving over here. It's something that I've always found very daunting so I just rely on public transport. I enjoy walking and have come to make some nice friends just from seeing them on the bus regularly. :)

I will be adding this site to my bookmarks so I can check back regularly!

Take care!

Carol

Hi and welcome to UKY.

I am from Atlanta.  Moved to Plymouth England (southwest) in Feb this year with british hubby.  We had lived in metro Atlanta for 5 yrs, but decided it was time to move over / back here.  I love it here, but do miss my friends and family.

This site is great and very helpful in many ways.
