Family over in Grimsby has sent us pics. Makes hubby miss being there. I swear each day we look for more reasons on trying to get back sooner rather than later. :(

We had rain that turned into wet, slushy, snow this morning.  It stopped, thank goodness, but it has left a lovely sheet of ice on everything.  :P

The sky looks clear right now, but I don't trust it.  ;)

We're having a lot of wind and freezing rain, but no snow.

The sky doesn't look promising though.   :-\\\\

It was snowing really heavily here in our area today, I even got pelted with ice when walking to my car once!  :-X Ouch! Only a bit of it has stuck around so far, and roads are still clear. But it's so cold outside, and I expect to see white streets again the morn!  ;)

This weekend is not looking good - but the main hazard is not the snow (although there could be quite a lot in some areas), it's actually ice.

What's essentially happening is that a cold front has come down across the UK bringing rain (which passed us here in Exeter an hour or so ago) and then bitterly cold air is following behind. What this means is that all the rain that is falling today will turn to ice overnight (possibly black/sheet ice), because the ground is so cold already, which could cause major problems on the roads tomorrow.

We just had our first forecasting exams yesterday and today and we already have a contingency plan in place to get our results tomorrow in case the weather is too bad and we can't get to work in the morning!

US report here: Snowing in the mid-Atlantic (I'm in Baltimore) and we're getting some rather slipper roads!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

And no snow here in Boston. A little warmer than yesterday though -- less wind. Weather people are very up in the air about whether we will get a storm Sunday/Monday.

This was us today too, but it doesn't seem to have stuck.  Now it's just ridiculously cold.

Snow definitely over the curb- because I couldn't see the curb when I was walking home- and I fell off the pavement and into the street and smacked both my knees (and one knee is still a mess from my car versus the ice puddle a few weeks ago so that really hurt!!!)

Though I did enjoy my 6 mile (round trip) journey walking through the snow up into my ankles. I like walking in the snow  :)

Looks like more snow through the night...

I'll keep an eye on it on the Inverness live web cam while you are asleep.

Oh the silence of walking in the snow.

Ooooh, we definitely have snow now.

Quite an accumulation of it too, and it's not even our heaviest snow yet today - our heaviest snow is due at 12 noon (ish) today, and we already have about 2 inches.

ETA:  Both DH and his mum can't get into work - none of the roads are gritted and they kept sliding everywhere.

We had about three inches fall in half an hour in Dorchester this morning, but I'm in Bournemouth now and there's nary a flake.

We've had an inch or two here in Exeter in the last hour or so, but skies are clear now. The thing with this snow is that some areas will get a dumping of it while other areas will be completely snow-free (and it's been almost impossible to tell where exactly it will fall). I think Exeter may get more snow later today, but I'm supposed to be driving back up to Bristol in the next few hours!
