It was snowing big flakes yesterday morning but stopped...Like ksand said its the ICE! DH was driving home from picking up the kids at 3ish yesterday and he said the car started sliding due to ice just because it feel SO cold.
I would prefer snow over ice ANY day. I would like a white Christmas ;-)

Yesterday, we had an episode much like noirem described above, over the course of about 2-3 hours, but like persephone said - nothing stuck.  Fine by me!  Am still waiting for this 'storm of the century' they were all hyping up a day or two ago on the news.  Isn't that what happened in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?  (it's really okay if it doesn't manage to turn up though)

Snow definitely over the curb- because I couldn't see the curb when I was walking home- and I fell off the pavement and into the street and smacked both my knees (and one knee is still a mess from my car versus the ice puddle a few weeks ago so that really hurt!!!)

Ouch!

As long as DH and I can get to where we're going safely, then whatever else happens is okay.

After yesterdays mad throw down for 2 hours we ended up with only a dusting in Derby. Now it's blazing sunshine outside -- but jeez! it's cold! Brrr [smiley=elf.gif]

For about 10 minutes it snowed in the manner that would make any lake effect area in the US proud, then it tapered off to flurry snowfall again.  Very cool though.  Our front garden looks like it's covered in confectioner's sugar.

Just took my puppy for a walk in the park about 12:30.  It was just starting to come down gently when we left the house.  By the time we finished our first lap(about the size of a football field) around the park, the ground was completely covered.

There's about six inches on the ground in Dorchester now, still not sure if we'll be able to get to Cardiff tomorrow.  Ksand, any thoughts on what the weather will be like between Dorset and Wales tomorrow?

To be honest, I'm not really sure what's going to be happening tomorrow. It looks like there are no major weather warnings on the Met Office website (but that may change) and it also doesn't look like they're predicting any more snow in the area tomorrow either.

I guess it's mostly just going to depend on the state of the roads for driving between Dorchester and Wales.

"Heavy snow warnings are in place across the UK, with "very heavy" alerts for London, the Home Counties and Surrey."

There were some beautiful, huge flakes coming down in a torrent earlier.  Now it's the tiny fast flakes here in SW London.

We've had some little flurries here today, which were actually a bit worrying because just those flurries have managed to delay the trains by about 10 minutes.  ::)
