It snowed for about 6 hours yesterday, but it rained all night and we have a bright & sunny day outside at the moment if a bit soggy.

We may be getting a nor'easter on Wednesday. And DS is supposed to be driving his furniture back from NYC that day  :o

Yep, we're in the throes of another blizzard. Fortunately the lad drove up just ahead of the storm so all is safely gathered in. It must have started here around 2AM and when I got up around 6 it was pretty white out there. Very heavy wet snow covering everything -- trees and wires all bending low. I had to shove the screen door to open it -- about 8" already they were saying on TV. Felt like crawling back into bed but got into my snow gear and tried to clear a path at least. Find it easier to lift an armload of the stuff than to actually shovel it! Looked in the garage at my father's old electric snow blower and know it would be useless with this stuff. My idea was to make a giant snowball and roll it out into the street! But it didn't work. I think we're snow bound. (DS has already seen the doctor about a bad shoulder so I don't think he should be dealing with this stuff either). Thing is I could be fined $50 if I don't clear the sidewalk in front of my house within 10 hours of the snow stopping!! And we've already had one brief power outage so I expect it will get worse before it gets better.

Looking at the photos my friends have been posting on Facebook, looks like a pretty wacking storm BD- they're saying they've had 20+ inches and still snowing hard in Central/Western Mass...
Looks like I was lucky to get outta there on Monday night!

Yeah, excellent timing on your part!
The weather map on TV says our town got 23". The snow at the bus stop this morning was up to my waist at least so we had to stand in a nearby parking lot access and hope the driver would stop for us. Some drivers get bolshie about picking people up at non-stops and one even yelled at somebody for waving her arm to flag him down. Such is life (sigh)

Well compared to the Eastern US, it seems like we're doing OK here in the UK

But, nonetheless, we had a nasty rain storm last night which turned into frozen rain/sleet/smattering of snow this morning up here in the north pole.   Nice and sunny now though, but a bit ominous for the next 24-48 hours again.

You said it! I recently asked DS where we should (hypothetically) move to where the climate was more temperate. He said: the UK! I reminded him of the earlier storms this season but still -- nothing like the what we've had here this year.

We got that nasty rain and gales as well last night along with a bit of hail, but no real snow or ice thankfully.  Now it's back again after a day of sunshine and it sounds frightful outside!  :o

Ugh. We had a brief dalliance with an ice storm that mostly hit north of me. Now we're looking at another 'mixed mess' this weekend (what's worse? mixed mess or just cold, nasty rain?!)

Then we're looking at another possible light snow event Tuesday... and a potential bigger storm next weekend!!!

Argh!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

It's not terribly far from. It's not sticking but huge fat fluffy flakes are falling from the sky. I normally have a clear view of the Kessock Bridge and Beauly Firth and they're almost entirely gone.

Are we checking the same place? I don't see anything either.

You know I am soooo hoping we can see the back side of this thread (i.e., snow!) for another year now!  Is it too much to hope for, ksand24?   :D
