Hormel chili. It's been one of those days.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Last night my husband made his toad in the hole - he uses Jane Grigson's Yorkshire pud batter recipe and it's SO good! I made maple roasted swede to go along, and the excess batter meant English-style pancakes for dessert!

I think tonight is going to be macos (veggie tacos), we haven't had those in a while and we've got some lettuce that needs using.

Another Christmas 'do!
J and I are meeting each other early at the pub we're going to, since he works downstairs and there isn't much point for him to head home to just go back as soon as he gets there. ;D

I want to do a Roast Chicken...

This is what I'm planning to do for tonight as well, with roasted veggies that we need to use up.  And then I can make chicken broth this weekend, for the freezer.

Last night, DH made my chili (under my tutelage) & it tasted good except I only had a taste - because I still felt sick & bloated from my work Christmas lunch.  I'm going to have some chili for my lunch today & I froze the rest of it to have for a meal at a later time.

Pioneer Woman Queso, Jalapeno Poppers Sarah style, and spinach dip.  Plus yummy tortilla chips.  I wish Jenn were here. (And her hubster too)  :)

Could you give me a link for that recipe? I made toad in the hole last night with Jamie Oliver's YP recipe, and it was nice (especially since I bought these AMAZING Cumberland sausages from our local butcher which were massive and very rich, almost all pork.) But I'd be up to try a new recipe for it, since that was only the second time I've made it. I served mine with a slow-cooked onion gravy, mashed potatoes, steamed sprouts, and glazed Chantenay carrots for DSS's Christmas dinner. (He had strawberry Angel's Delight for his pudding since that's his favourite thing ever.  ;))

Last night, we had chicken breasts stuffed with a little bit of sausage meat & small pieces of bacon, with mash & brussel sprouts.

Tonight is roast beast (beef) with veg, etc.

Hamburger Helper beef pasta. did anyone know who likes Hamburger Helper that you can get it in Wholegrain pasta now there were only a few flavors at the store we bought ours at back home in Indiana. but to me that's better than nothing I think especially when you are having a homesickness moment or a craving for it an don't want to completely splurge on your calories.  ;)  :)
