Trying out homemade fake-chicken noodle soup. Should be interesting.

How did it turn out?

I decided to try braised red cabbage with apple, because it was one of the only red cabbage recipes I could find.... It was AWFUL! Never made anything so horrid. It's all going in the bin. Luckily I made it before we went to Tesco, so we picked up a fish pie and some antipasti.

We had peking lemon chicken stir fry over rice.

Root vegetable korma (spicy though!) - it's a Nigel Slater recipe & I always forget this...  It says it's enough for 4 people with rice or naan, so I think - well we're greedy & make the full recipe.  Only then I realise that actually the full recipe would probably be enough for 6-8 people.  Sooooo many leftovers!  Good thing DH likes it - it'll be his lunch the rest of the week.  :P

Cheese ravioli smothered in more cheese (mozarella & provolone) and tomato sauce with fresh mushrooms, onion, garlic.

And a bottle of vino!

Pretty good, actually! Doesn't taste chicken soup-y, obviously, but it's got the same overall feel. BF isn't a fan of noodles in soup, though, but he still said he liked it. Good thing, too, because we have loads of leftovers!

Last night I made a corned beef pie (one of DH's faves) but oh man, the baby in my belly did NOT care for that AT ALL.  [smiley=puke.gif] Good thing he likes it and can take it in his lunch, I only had one tiny piece and I'm definitely not eating any more of that.  :-X

Not sure what I will make tonight. I've got some sausages to cook and I was thinking of trying that Philadelphia cream cheese recipe they keep showing on telly with the sausage meatballs and pasta with creamy mustard sauce. I've got all the ingredients to make it. But I might just do sausage and mash since we have loads of potatoes and I'm not sure I'm in the mood to try something new for fear it might be nasty. Hmmm.

I've been meaning to try that sausage meatball recipe too!  I understand not wanting to rock the boat though- for the first 11 weeks all I wanted were plain things.

We're having chili, hopefully mine will be spicy enough to make this stinking cold go away!

We're having baked chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, brussels sprouts (little green balls of evil) for him and breaded tomatoes for me.

Aww, I just had a cold. It sucks when you can't take Lemsip or anything. Those Olbas tissues rock, if you haven't tried that.

Yep, sausages are out of the question for me. Too queasy! Maybe some noodles later. :/

I sauteed some sausages, onions, peppers and fennel and made a spicy tomato cream sauce. Had it over rice with some roast parsnips. :)

I had a good giggle while cooking because I thought about not having the breaded tomatoes after all, but had the passing thought 'But I have to, because I posted about it'... The giggle came about 3 seconds later when I had the thought that no one would really know if I cooked what I said I was going to or not.  ;D

Edited for a typo.
